Problem after Problem

The units are in poor condition and are extremely dated for the rents they charge. No one seems to follow up or conduct pre-move-in inspections. We had so many problems in one unit that required us to have to move to another unit at our own expense. The day we moved in we had to endure 90 degree temperatures with no A/C this resulted in taking longer to move thus having to pay our movers for the additional hours.( No compensation or apologies were offered by management). The A/C was (We were told) repaired only to have it fail on two other occations. Only when we explained to them the law as it pertains to CFC's leaking into the atmosphere did they come and change the condenser unit. Then the plumbing problems started, we had feces backing up in one of the tubs, when we called to report it we were told it was not an "EMERGENCY" because we had two other bath rooms. (It didn't seem to matter to them that we were paying for three. This went on for three weeks, before it was fixed. We also had a balcony railing issue on the third floor, that was extremely unsafe rendering the balcony unusable, we requested to see a copy of their "State Required" Balcony inspection report, we were told a copy would be available, however we've yet to see it. (Probably because they don't have one). In all fairness, they have resently brought in a new Property Manager and Head Maintenance Manager. Both have promised to turn things around. (Time Will Tell). They offered to transfer us to another unit with a reduction in rent. However it is little compensation for the problems we've experienced. Example: Our rent was reduced by $300.00 per month, now this may seem like a fair compensation, fact is we gave up a nice private view of the golf coarse for a view of their offices. Furthermore we had to sign another 12 month lease. Note: Golf Views (we were told) generally run $200 more per month. They also had resently reduced their rates across the board. Plus we had to pay the movers again. So who really benefited here' We've lost a great view, they gained an additional 3 months worth of rent. Although the new apartment is somewhat better it is not without it's problems. i.e Security Alarm goes off on it's own, (Had to have the whole thing disconnected), broken stair tread,(Trip Hazard) No cable signal in the living room, etc. When we bring these new issues to their attention we're made to feel like we're simply being annoying complainers. Not a good value for our dollars. We have a lot of regrets.
