Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2007
I have been living here for almost a year now, and I have mixed feelings about this place. Well, first the positives and yes there is a few.
The complex is visually appealing after all I think the building is like 3 years old or so, my apartment is pretty spacious and comfortable, it has a nice pool area, landscaping is plentiful, parking is for the most part is adequate, they have 24 Hour Security and a security Check Point at the entrance, Washer and Dryer laundry rooms in every floor, fitness room with exercise equipment, a barbeque area, pest control and the daily presence of maintenance staff that upkeeps the buildings and surrounding areas.
Now having mentioned the positives, now I ll mention the shortcomings and YES there is a hand full.
Apartments lack insulation, you can hear people in your neighboring apartments and they can here you, when walking through the building s hallways you clearly hear people inside their apartments;
Don t expect helpful comprehensive administrative staff after signing that lease;
False sense of security (Police presence due to emergency calls are a common occurrence);
Theft and vandalism of personal property is a common occurrence, this happens right under their noses and trust me when I say that they could care less what happens to your belongings (so much for gated entrance and 24 hour security and don t bother complaining about it, all you ll hear is that they DON T provide personal security!!! HA HA what a joke!!!);
If you happen to miss your rent by a day a hefty penalty of 10% of the monthly lease is charged (That could be anywhere between $100 - $170 depending on what apartment you leased);
Currently someone is shooting at people with a beebee gun, YES, no this is not a joke. This is actually happening, and police have been at the complex because several people have gotten hit;
Recently there was an unfortunate incident were one of the apartments was lit on fire by an arsonist (Story made the news) and the administration drop the ball in my opinion because they did not in any way attempt to keep people informed of the situation to calm people down until a few days later of the incident (understand that we did not have access to the news media because the building where the incident occurred has the equipment that provides TV Cable access to the entire complex, and it was affected the explosion). Satellite and cable access is limited to what they offer through a company of their choice and NO it s not free, as a matter of fact it cost more due to provider s service charges.
Laundry machines are constantly breaking down, and by the time you find out that the machine does not work you have already spent $1.50, not much if it was only an unusual occurrence but the problem is that it happens all of the time. Oh, good luck getting your money back;
As far as security personnel is concern, the only thing that they are good for is pasting parking violation stickers on cars that do not have Valid Parking Decals.
When submitting a request for maintenance, expect a long time for them to resolve the problem;
People allow their pets to pee inside the building and do their business outside anywhere;
The amount of money you pay for rent does not match the standard of living what so ever.
I would not recommend Royal Palms Luxury (please let s not go there) Apartments to any body I care about.
Needless to say I will not renew my lease.
