Star Creek Apartments, like anywhere, has its positives and negatives. Let's take the positives first: 1) It is relatively quiet, in terms of traffic noise and so on, 2) It's located right next to jog/bicycle path for those who enjoy the outdoors. There's also a canal, which I've seen some folks fishining in (not sure whether or not that's legal, though), 3) It has pretty decent parking for those who own an automobile. If, like me, you utilize public transportation and self-propulsion (walking/biking) to commute, within a five- to eight-minute walking distance, one has access to at least 4 bus routes, namely, the 241 (North Dade Connection), 83, 75, and the 183 (Miami Gardens Max); If you commute by bike, there are no bike lockers or bike railings on the grounds, so you'd probably have to either keep your bike on your balcony or inside the apartment for safety reasons. I've seen tenants chain their bikes to the staircase railings/banister, but not only could your bike get wet when it rains, it's dangerous for tenants who are mounting or dismounting the stairs, 4) The structure of the buildings is pretty decent and so is the architectural style. 5) maintenance response times are pretty good compared with some horror stories I've heard from renters elsewhere.

Now, here are the negatives: 1) This has not happened to me, personally, but other tenants have complained about break-ins, 2) parking lot lights and general lighting around the premises go out frequently. In some cases, it's so dark that you can't even see the door lock properly to insert the key to get into your apartment. 3) Some neighbors in our particular building had constant run-ins with the law. Some nights we were jolted awake by screams, shouts, fist fights and other types of physical/verbal conflicts.

Other than the above, Star Creek has tremendous potential. It is in a great location that is easily accessible by public and private transportation, it's close to schools, super markets and the like and it is in a fairly decent neighborhood. Overall, it is not a bad place to live.
