Unprofessional office staff make V-V not worth the trouble
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 2/9/2003
Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2003
I lived at VV for about 2.5 years. My roommate and I had several issues with the office.
1. On my move down from Boston I got a call when I was driving through NJ (about 5 hours into the 20 hour drive) The office told me that a prior tenant had decided to stay, and our apartment was unavailable. This is after we had signed a lease for it. After an excruciating 36 hours they finally contacted us and said that they would have an apartment for us.
2. I switched roommates about 18 months into my lease. My new roommate went to the office to sign the papers. It was 12 minutes until 5pm (closing time) They informed him that they had closed and to come back tomorrow.
3. My roommate had a rental car in the parking lot. It was late (about 10pm) so he could not notify the office. V-V had it towed away. This clearly broke their 24 hour warning policy and it took legal action to get V-V to pay the chargers.
4. We had orally agreed on a rate for a renewal of our lease. When the papers came the terms were higher than the agreed amount. Upon contact, I was informed that I must have "misunderstood".
5. Someone had thrown away multiple pieces of furniture in the dumpster. It was close to our move out date so they must have assumed that we were the ones who did it. Janet or Janice(') called and told me that maintenance had seen me throw certain pieces in the dumpster the day before. She then proceeded to say that she knew I did it and I should just "give up". I then informed her that I was in Pennsylvania, and had been for the prior 5 days which included the day of the alleged dumping. After a call back later, her story changed.
For FIU students V-V could not be better located. Unfortunately, the gross negligence and often deceiving/coniving office staff (Janet) make this place not worth the trouble. I sometimes had to pinch myself and asking "is this really happening'"
This is a place were security deposits come to die. This is a place were you get falsely accused. This is a place were there is supposed to be 24 hour security, but the staff is too lazy to buzz in cars, so the gates are always open. This is a nice place that is ruined by an unprofessional, misleading, and deceptive office staff.
V-V is not worth the trouble.
