All that Glitters is not gold

The complex brochure and model make it look nice and I guess it wasn't bad. It's close to the Turnpike and to grocery shopping. The brochure advertises 10 minutes to Coral Gables -- I'm not sure when they timed that. Maybe at 5:00 in the morning on a weekend. An example, of typical morning rush hour commute to Coral Gables or UM averaged me anywhere from 45 - 60 minutes. I will say that any maintenance issues were handled either same day or next. Pest control is included in the rent, but I contended with armies of sugar ants and black ants often found their way in. I only ever saw four cochroaches and I think they usually found their way in through the gap in the patio door. The walls are a little on the thin side, so, chances are if you have a loud neighbor you will hear them. The fitness room is a joke, but the pool area is nice. The utilities weren't that expensive, and the A/C does a good job. The apartment comes with a washer/dryer and that was nice. All in all, it wasn't a bad place, but I was glad to move. Don't get too attached to the idea of getting all of your deposit back -- you won't. If you need resonable rent and don't mind the commute then you may like this community, but I would be hard pressed to send a friend there, but the general public -- I guess I'd say check it out for yourself.
