UPDATE: Well, I just wanted to update my review as I still get questions from site visitors here and I have moved from a 1BR to a 2BR. Everything is pretty okay with two exceptions: the noise and safety (this is particularly an issue for parents).

Don't get me wrong- the majority of the time I absolutely love my two bedroom. It's a great, spacious, and lovely apartment. The problem is noise and safety regarding the pool area.

As regards the noise, this is mostly a common problem of an apartment community. Although Windsor does have so-called "quiet hours," the quiet hours policy is only as effective as the residents who will follow it. So, hopefully you will luck out and get a quiet building. As for me, every evening for HOURS on end, I get to look forward to bass so loud that my floor shakes. Since my guests can't sleep due to the unending bass, I've decided that I can't have people over anymore. It's sad and embarrassing.

Still, the major issues regarding noise and safety is reserved for the pool area. When I wanted to move to a 2BR, there were only two apartments available: one near the freeway and one near the pool. I was concerned about both areas, but thought I could get used to freeway noise after having previously lived in the heart of a major city with buses, police sirens, and a firehouse directly across the street. But, after much deliberation I picked the pool apartment(I know, I'm stupid) due to guarantees that the pool closed after sundown and that children (or rude adults) do not have access or use the pool once it closes (obviously, I don't have any problems or issues with pool use during the day; I loved swimming as a kid, so I don't begrudge kids swimming...during the day!).

Just as an FYI, the pool does NOT close. In fact, the main entry gate to the pool is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Allegedly the gate is supposed to be locked; however, management does not make any effort to actually lock the gate or other access points to the pool. As a result, children are often swimming, unsupervised, late in the evening. I'm not talking 8pm in the evening, folks. I'm talking 11pm and onward and during the work week! The latest being a couple of weeks ago, there were kids in the pool screaming and yelling and having a great time by themselves up until 2am.

Besides the noise, this is a HUGE safety and liability issue for the complex. Unfortunately, the complex is mostly on the honor system (sending letters and asking residents to abide by the rules) and is not proactive about dealing with this issue. So, you heard it here first: If you are offered an apartment that faces the pool do not take it. You will not get any sleep at all. If you are a concerned parent, the idea of an unlocked and completely open pool area should raise red flags. If you're a negligent parent...well, I guess it's your kids who will be disturbing everyone.

I really hate to sound like a Negative Betty. I wish other residents would speak up about these issues, but no one wants to be a snitch it seems. I fully understand that we all make sacrifices living in multi-dwelling units. And, certainly, Windsor at Miramar is one of the best complexes to rent from in South Florida. I don't expect miracles and can't fault management entirely for having bad neighbors (and, if management is reading this, I mean no disrespect to you because I know you guys are professional and work hard to give us the good community we have). But, the fact remains that my opinion of living here has changed in the last few months. I have to be honest about my experience.

As of today, I would give the complex an 7.5 to 8 out of 10. Basically, a B grade.

I like windsor at Miramar, however in the past few months I feel as it is going down hill since the new management has came in. The landscaping is not as good as it previously was, and there is a broken light pole that someone hit with their car which has been sitting there broken for the past two months. With the money they charge here for rent, that shouldn't be happening. Windsor is a quiet community and the is very nice.

I agree completely with the original poster with regard to the noise issue. I just walked by the pool area and noticed a large, noisy party underway with at least a dozen people in the water and the barbecue pit fired up. Mind you, it's 10:45 PM on a Tuesday (e.g. work) night. This isn't the first time I've seen this happen either - before school went back in session in late August, you could often find children splashing around, unsupervised, in the water long after dark. Management has been otherwise great, including maintenance. However, they should *really* work on enforcing the rules re: quiet hours and pool usage. It's not only a liability, as the original poster mentioned, but also an issue of fairness - the rent's high enough in this complex for management to be able to bring the noise issue under control.

I will agree that since my initial review and my follow up response on 10/25/08, that the community has taken some hits. I had no idea about the chain link fence being broken! That should be reported. I don't know where the hole is, but Anon if you know, please let management know. One thing that management keeps telling me is that no one ever complains about things (e.g. the noise around the pool), so they don't know when something needs to be addressed. Now, I don't think that's entirely true as I have complained about the noise around the pool a few times. However, I do think I'm probably the only one complaining. I'm shocked by what people will let slide. If anyone is having any sort of problem, please let management know immediately. If the problem is not addressed, write a letter to corporate. This is what I will be doing the next time there is noise at the pool after hours. Also, start calling the police if people are breaking the law. Excessive noise at 2am is against the law. I have called the police to escort people from the pool at 3am and I will continue to do so (so, parents, if you don't want a knock on your door by the MPD, I suggest you watch your children and be an actual parent!). It's up to the residents to demand better as management is not going to do it unless we force them too.

I have to agree the the property has started to go downhill too, since the new manager started. I noticed weeds growing in the playground area near the lake when i brought my daughter there...for the amount of money you pay there is not reason for weeds and grass growing in the mulch. Another thing i wanted to mention is the gate around the playground, the metal bars are bent up and look pretty bad considering this isn't even two years old. As for this place being a gated community, the chain link fence that seperates windsor from the other community is pulled down/broken from children coming over to play in our playground. Not only is this a legal issue for the complex, it creates a passage for people to enter the community. The noise level here is alright at times, other times i hear bass from cars at 2-3 in the morning...
