Pro's and Con's, 6 yrs. Here

I have lived here for 6 years. I work extensive hours, therefore I dont see alot of things that most people do. My apartment is an older unit, but well maintained mostly by me. Seldom do I call the maintenance staff, but when I have needed them, (only 5 times in last 6 years) they were prompt, curtious, and fixed the problem to the best of their knowledge. I have seen office staff come and go, and by far, Angie was the BEST. Upon signing a new lease, they usually offer free carpet cleaning (deep scrub or offering new blinds). For the last 4 years, my rental increase has only been minimal, cost of living increase numbers. But, this last year was a whopper, with nothing offered and a water monthly bill that used to be included. Single myself, I believe my water usage is based on the whole complex, and I share the burdon of paying for other people's usage, although my billing invoice DOES NOT reflect MY usage, just an montly total. This is the first year I am not happy here, new management, more management seems less available then in the past when 1 was running the day to day duties. When approached about painting, I was given the option of doing the job myself, or hinting the possibility of moving out, Popcorn ceillings do not roll well. My un-biased opinion would be to move in, because it is the cheapest place in town, I have checked every year. Location is wonderful, but traffic is awful. I maintain my living environment impecably, always pay rent and bills on time. Square footage is more than ample for a single person compared to other complexes for the price. Pool is always clean, dumpsters need an extra pick up day scheduled, and the children need more monitoring when playing in the parking lot. But, that should be the parents, not the office staff. AC filters are free of charge when asked for, the news letters are informative and well designed with a variety of information of the complex and it's Corporation News. The grounds are well groomed, and the pest control is a monthly event. My opinions, on the other hand, are somewhat different. I think that if one is to live here, be prepared to listen to loud music as the kids drive by with the Bass systems turned up to volume 12 at all hours of the day and night. Pick your mail up during daylight hours, as the light in the mail area is NEVER working. Be prepared to change your OWN outside door light, keep your apartment clean, because it is FLORIDA, there are bugs everywhere, trying to get in! Do Not try to go to office during the hours of 11-2, they are all at lunch. And, heavens forbid you have an immergency. Yes, the maintenance staff live on property, and yes, someone is always on call. Just try getting the number!!! Overall, yes, MOVE In. You will not get a better monthly rental cost anywhere. But, be prepared to take care of your apartment like a house, not like a hotel.
