Tales from the Hood

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2004
We made it a whole 6.5 months and in that time we had: mold that caused asthma in our child, a 1-night THREE TIME burglary attempt on our car (which was no longer able to be kept at home for the last TWO MONTHS we were there), an a/c unit that never worked properly causing high electric bills - and it was never repaired after numerous calls to maintenance and entry without our consent during the end of our time there. When letters were sent to the Regional office, the property office consistently lied to cover their pathetic customer service and not to mention that even during the move-in application period, we had to constantly call and remind them on the details on our lease. There were 3 different people with 3 different answers during the whole process. Complete disorganization. As for the "nightlife" - not ONE single night were we leaving or coming "home" and there weren't at LEAST 12 kids of all ages hanging out on the backs of cars, at all hours of the night, playing music and talking on cell phones, wandering the parking lot - looking at us as if we didn't belong...as if we don't "belong" in a place where we PAY ABSURD rent and are supposed to feel safe and secure. One final note - just to give you an idea of the area within this complex. In our building alone, there were 3 break-ins in one tenants apartment, 1 in each of our 2 neighbors and the building across from us had an intruder while she slept. When we called the police on our attempted car burglary, even THEY told us that living there was a bad idea. As for parking, neighbors would park pretty much on the sidewalk to keep their cars as close to their front door as possible in order to prevent breakins.
