I will just post my letter that I sent to the apartments concerning my stay. That should do it.
July 30th, 2008
Lighthouse Apartments Management,
Here is a copy of my PCS orders, I will be out of my apartment by October 1st.
Additionally, although the staff (Kim and Dana) being extremely awesome, I have absolutely hated my stay in Lighthouse apartments. I thought that paying more for a better area would be worth it, but it was not. I have made many complaints about building 6, as the building floods constantly. I understand there has been excess rain, but bld 6 collects standing water. The bugs are ridiculous over there, because of all the standing water. I was told nothing could be done.
The updating of the buildings has been ridiculous. The fire alarm went off in our building for over 2 hours one Saturday. Repeatedly. I have scuff marks allover my walls from "someone" entering my apartment (you can't deny the 5 gallon bucket marks on the wall). My screen has been ripped off for over a month now.
I asked to have my carpets cleaned, as they have been nasty since I moved in. I was told NO. The carpet is ridiculous. Also the tile has dark marks allover it. I had noted ALL of these discrepancies on the move-in sheet, and they were never corrected. Why is it so much to ask to have the stained carpets cleaned'
Upon moving in (sight-unseen, there were people living in the apartment when I signed my lease), I was told my rent was more because it was in a great area, probibly with a view. I have a view of a parking lot and I have constant noise because I am next to US-17. The cable-tv situation is atrocious. Broadband CTI is very highly prices and doesn't follow advertised prices. Laundry rooms have far too few accomodations for as many apartments without washer and dryer. 6 washers and dryers for over 100 apartments without W/D hookup'
But I was proptly harrassed about setting a bag of trash outside my door, being very sick that day and not wanting to rot the apartment up with smell. Even when given a significant reason as to why, instead of being understanding, I was told that was not your problem, and that I needed to take the trash immediatly. I had a bone infection. I was on numerous narcotics.
The only things that I have found to be nice in this community is the location, the massage services and the overall look of the complex. Everything else has been a nightmare. Again, I would like to say that Kim and Dana have treated me exceptionally. Always kind and helpful when I call.
I feel as though I would have been better off staying in a cheaper complex, larger apartment closer to the Naval Base. If I could go back I would definitely do that instead. To help others that get off-base housing, I am sending a copy of this letter to our Housing Assistance office on base as well as my commands counselor so that other sailors can make a more educated decision about the apartment choices in the area.

I moved out recently and agree about Kim and Dana being very nice. I also had similar experiences in all other regards. The nice complex is not worth all the hassels and extra cost. For example, after my move out I recieved a final statement. I have a question about it and I've called and left two messages over the last two weeks. (Frequently when you call the office there is no answer and the only option is to leave a message.)So far there has been no response. Avoid this complex - really! (By the way, you can rent a house, in a nice neighborhood in this area, for about $1,200, my rent was $1,135.)
