I should have known the first day I moved in to find a flea infestation that I should have left, but I didn't. And after it took two trips to the office to have the fleas taken care of AND the dead ones removed, I should have known. I asked how the crime was when I moved in, and the office staff sidestepped the question every time. The place does smell like sewage every time they water the grass, and it took legal threats after several complaints about a broken air conditioning unit before they finally replaced it with the cheapest, most inefficient one on the market, not to mention NO RENT REIMBURSEMENT, but did receive a small check for power reimbursement although that did not even come close to covering the amount of extra the a/c used for year I lived here. I have nights of bass thumping music, tire squeeling, and noises from the neighbors through the walls keeping me from sleeping. I have found three snakes on my patio in two weeks time, two venomous. The traffic toward the naval base is horrible, as is the traffic toward 295 in either direction. The rent went up after a year of leasing also. My neighbors upstairs complain of smelling smoke when I lit up the fireplace in the winter since my heater was not performing correctly either. The staff acted as if they were in a stand off every time there was a problem. I agree that the maintenance staff and Japha are the best this place has to offer, if only everybody was as friendly as they are. I have seen over five families move out in the past month because of how run down this place has become. The only reason the parking has become decent is because of everyone else moving out. I really like the lawn maintenance company they hire to wake me up at 7am on Thursday with edgers they never use for anything else but to make noise and the clippings they leave all over the cars and patios. Some of the sewage smelling sprinklers are broken and conveniently spray the horrible smelling water right on the walkways trapping the building tennants and smelling up the apartments surrounding them. I will never deal with Equity Residential properties ever again and strongly discourage anybody else from even thinking about giving this place a chance. Please shop around this area and find out the best place for the staff and traffice before you are forced to live miserably for your entire lease.
