My biggest complaint about Alexandria is the privacy issue. You and your apartment have to ALWAYS be ready for an inspection. The new maintenance staff has come in my apartment 6 times this month alone, waking me up and setting off my alarm for bogus maintenance issues - like checking my closet ceilings for water leaks from the above apartment in areas where there is no water above, plus...I'm on the top floor. Or, the - I thought you were moving out' excuse.

It's my guess they are looking to snoop around my apartment and/or steal stuff except I work the nightshift and I'm usually home when they try to get in. I just wonder how many times they have been in while I was gone.

You don't get 24hrs notice for maintenance, or anything for that matter. If you are lucky enough to get a notice longer than 24hrs, they usually come way early or way late and say they are running ahead or behind schedule - to avoid the residents.

Now, the new management, EQUITY RESIDENTIAL is terrible, after arriving they closed our complex office so they can have less staff employed, but that doesn't mean a decrease in rates, infact my rent increased over $100/month if I choose to renew - which I didn't.

Then they wanted to make themselves look good, so they hired a contractor to paint all the buildings, it's going on 3 months now and they just finished my building; I can't sleep due to constant pounding and people yelling.

The staff is rude and dumb. They argue with each other while I'm in between them. They claim packages have already been signed out just because they don't want to look, and it's as if we are inconviencing them any time we stop by the office.

There is a major car vandalizm/theft problem here, probably due to the ghetto next door. The office staff doesn't want you to be aware of it so you know you need to be more cautious, and actually yells at residents when they ask about the problem.

Parking - A garage is a MUST, but with all the thefts/vandalizm have fun getting one. Also, since I work nights there are plently of open spots when I get home anyways, but good luck finding one at night.

Noise Level - Even just a quiet tv on in the next apartment will create this annoying noise in your apartment. I also was lucky enough to have a full band (guitar, drums, yelling) in the apartment below me, and they weren't quiet. Then there are people who sit out on their patios playing their guitars at all hours and you can hear it across the complex. The neighboring complex (mystic pointe 2) also has inconsiderate people that need to be able to hear their car stereos clearly 1000ft away for hours on end.

Grounds - For the most part it's fine, I have no complaints here.

Safety - Again, the people who are vandalizing and stealing our cars are out at night. I've been followed by these people on more than one occasion. I've been able to handle it, but most people wouldn't.

Construction - All my moulding, counters and everything with caulk is cracking and bugs are coming out. Bugs also come out of all the drains. A lot of things are lopsided, broke or breaking.

Maintenance Service - I've never called them, since they let themselves in all the time anyways.

Office Staff - See above, they are rude and yell at residents.

Overall - It's a great location, but you have no privacy, always have to be ready for a suprise inspection. Avoid this place...do some more looking around.
