Was nice a year ago but...

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2006
I have lived at the Arbors for the past year (Oct, 2005) and have generally found the apartment itself to be very nice, spacious, modern and overall a great place to live. However, I am sad to say that the $100 increase in monthly rent has left me with no other choice but to pack up and move out.
Look, I realize that nothing stays the same; prices go up, rent increases, etc. But 100 dollars more per month' I realize that many apartment properties raise rent each year, but it is usually by 20-30 dollars on average. 100 dollars is just obsurd.
I don't know most of the tennants, but the ones I met were friendly and often said "hi." However, for the first few months of my lease, I had the pleasure of living next to some rather loud and obnoxious individuals who would either sit up all night listening to the stereo and smoking on the balcony, or would hang out in the parking lot doing the same -- either way, this caused for some sleepless nights.
In addition, apparently they transformed the parking lot into a 1-lane speedway but did not send me the memo as I recall the speed limit being around 5mph, not 40mph...but based on the way people drive through the complex, it may as well be any speed limit you want. It's not so much for me, but that I know there are a lot of children playing during the day, and it is a very dangerous parking lot the way these people drive.
The apartment itself is great; very spacious, new and modern fixtures, a great balcony (with a screen, thankfully) and very thick walls (I only had noise problems when i had the windows open during the winter, or was out on the balcony at night).
A year ago, I would have given this a ***** recommendation, based on the price, combined with the square footage (1,020 for my 2 bedroom apt) and the other amenities, (pool, fitness, etc.) as well as the proximity to the airport, downtown, shopping, cocoa beach, highways, theme parks, etc.
But in Sept, 2006, based on the drastic increase in price, I would say look elsewhere...obviously prices have gone up in the last year, but there are still great deals to be found in other areas in Orlando.
