Advice for others

While I have many complaints about my experience at Boardwalk, I will focus on the most important problem in hopes that what I have to say will help someone else in the future. First of all, when you fill out the move in report, write down EVERY SINGLE tiny detail, even minor scratches on the walls or tiny stains on the carpet. When you move out, they will try to charge you for anything and everything. I literally watched one of the leasing agents get down on her hands and knees to inspect our carpet when we were moving out, upon which she found a tiny burn mark and decided to charge us to replace the carpet in the entire common area. They also insisted on re-painting the walls, which were somewhat dingy from "normal wear and tear" as stated in the lease. Apparently, "normal wear and tear" is a matter of opinion, and in their case it seems they decide in their favor despite what the residents have to say. The most important advice I can give is do not live at Boardwalk. If you do choose to live there, read the lease thoroughly, and write down every single detail on your move-in report, no matter how insignificant it may seem at the time. Keep records when you speak to employees at Boardwalk - the date and time, who you spoke with, and what your conversation was regarding. You never know when you may need this information.
