I resided in the upscale elitist ghetto known as Baldwin Park in 2004. I am a retired NYC Transit cop & obviously passed the standard credit & criminal history background check, my wife & I elected to move into a larger apartment after our first year & of course submitted the same information for the updated standard checks & lo & behold the criminal history check came back reflecting that I was not only arrested but convicted, jailed for one year, served one year of supervised probation & ordered to acknowlege a restraining order to stay away from my first wife. The strange thing is, the so called incident was to have occured before I moved into Baldwin Park initially so I was curious as to why this so called allegation didn't surface from the initial criminal history check (STRANGE) Knowing this not to be the case I requested to speak to the leasing agent who was handling our transfer to our new apartment to find out how they came upon such erroneous information & the low life actually refused to speak to me & I was ordered to leave after being handed an immediate vacate order for being an unsavory resident. I actually contacted my ex-wife & she agreed & did accompany me to the leasing office to dispute the claim & they actually ordered us both out of the leasing office even though I was still a resident, I notified the moronic company who handles these credit & criminal history checks & requested their dispute resolution paperwork, in the meantime I requested from the so-called arresting agency (Kissimmee Police Department)& correctional facility (Osceola County Sheriffs Dept Jail) & the Probation Department where I was supposed to have served this phantom one year probation, all three agencies concurred with me & provided indisputable written proof of not only was I never arrested, incarcerated, ordered to serve probation or was the recipient of any restraining order, but provided the information showing the actual profile of the real person that this incompetent company that Centergate pays a fortune to handle these matters which they can provide for themselves for a very small nominal fee & have the results in hours, not days. I was completely stunned when the idiot manager said that I would still have to fill out the paperwork to prove what the actual law enforcement agencies had said in the first place, that this incident never happened to me, biting my tongue I recieved, filled out & mailed the paperwork back to them & in the process had already moved into a condo in downtown Orlando. I needed to see this through so after repeated calls to this fly by night obviously bogus operation I eventually retained the services of any attorney who acquired additional proof from the so-called public defender who was to have defended me & the magistrate who was to have sentenced me & submitted that paperwork with an order to show cause & all of a sudden things got all cleared up, needless to say all the concessions they offered were academic as It was a delight to tell these idiots that I already moved out & then showed this clown of a manager the reference letter from my condo association where he gave my wife & I a glowing recommendation, of course he studdered & stammered & couldn't understand how this all happened but got real quiet when I hinted that maybe I need to mosey on down to Studio 13 News & let their consumer alert editor ask you to figure it all out before you get all confused with yourself. The concessions' We took all of them anyway. In all fairness up to this rather pathetic & unfortunate incident, I would & still do give them high marks for running a fairly smooth operation especially in light of who the parent developer is (Trammel Crowe)Unfortunately when faced with a situation that the handbook isn't scripted for, they completely feel apart with themselves & instead of contacting their corporate legal department who could & would have resolved this matter in 48 hours, they elected to keep this close to vest expecting that my wife & would just go away & they just winged it to their own detriment, some heads rolled but you know what' If they wish to place blame all they need do is look in the mirror, I gave them every chance to do the right thing & they blew it. Motto: Dont get mad, know your rights & get even in spades.
