Charming, Scenic Apartments

I have lived in Chatham Landing for 3, going on 4 years. I moved in due to the location near UCF and access to the UCF bus line (LYNX). There really are good things to be said about this place. 1) The View! I have enjoyed my view EVERY DAY since I have lived in this place. Trees and a pond and a fountain. Beautiful. Not to mention 2) We have ducks! I love our white AFLAC ducks. You can feed them from the balcony, and I just think that's really cool. They lay eggs, and sometimes you have ducklings running about. If I could I'd take them with me wherever I move next. 3)Great neighbors. I really have met some nice people. I've been fortunate to meet some people who will watch out for you, although I've really only gotten to know a few people like this. 4) The apartments really are cute, and the property is generally kept up, with updating of the exterior and landscaping.
Things I'm not crazy about! (Chatham Landing, please take note...) I moved to Chatham Landing when it was owned by ZOM. ZOM was great, and back then the management was great. Since Crawford Realty took over (and I hear it's even changed hands AGAIN!), the quality has declined. The people in the office are changing. They don't offer answers and generally do the least amount possible. A tree fell several weeks ago during a thunderstorm, and even though the tree was located right near the window of the management office, no one noticed that it fell, roots sticking out of the ground and all. It was eventually taken care of when someone pointed it out to them, although it was taken care of ONE MONTH LATER. Maintenance is not great, and it's generally hard to communicate with the maintenace staff, who are largely solely Spanish speaking. Some of the work is pretty shoddy, although my experience has been that they often come to fix what needs to be fixed within a week or so of asking. Neighbors! OK. I've had some great neighbors, but this is apartment living, so you're going to get some real freaks too. I've had a steady flow of freaks come through. You hear a lot of lound noise when you live here. People at the pool at 3 am during the summer. The guy next door up at 3 am to chant loudly...the girl who insists on playing Dido's Thank You EVERYDAY on repeat...which you can hear through the wall. The people upstairs from you who have the large dog, which you can hear them walking and running, and you can hear them on the balcony talking and laughing late into the night. And general common sense applies to being around at night in the apartment complex. I've never felt really afraid, but at the same time a guy sexually assaulted a girl at the gym a couple of years back (they've made somewhat of a security increase in the last couple of years). Finally, traffic is a growing concern. Traffic from UCF and Oviedo (going to EW Expwy) keeps residents from entering and exiting the entrance to the apartments...there really needs to be a stoplight put in. Several crashes have occurred.
Despite these drawbacks, I would still recommend Chatham Landing to anyone looking for a place to live. I've enjoyed it. It's convenient and close to UCF and Waterford Lakes. I would live here again.
