Chatham Landing

Upon first driving into Chatham Landing, you may be thinking that the scenery is pleasant since you've just fought through hell on Alafaya Trail to make it here. Don't be fooled, this place is both horrible and riddled with unethical people.

During my *short* stay in this hell hole, I lived above a convicted felon that only revealed himself to me when he solicited for marajuana. Rest assured the walls are made of sewn together notebook paper (deliberately) so that you can here your neighbors every word - especially when they're fighting over who gets the last of the ice cream.

Additionally, and as stated in other reviews, the heat setting on your air conditioner will set off the fire alarm which cannot be deactivated for at least 4 to 5 hours due to the staggering incompetance of the entire complex's non-existent staff - who ocassionally show up at rent time.

To my added misfortune, my father fell ill and I broke my lease to go home and take care of my mother. The complex signed a form stating that they were keeping my deposit (as expected) and I would be responsible for rent until the apartment was re-rented. Well, naturally, they re-rented the apartment almost immediately, but still submitted my amounts due to collections and destroyed my credit rating. Now, being a college student, I did not have the funds to legally fight the complex and have been counting down the years until this drops off my report and I go back to having perfect credit. There's nothing like collecting double-rent against broke college students in difficult situations.

If you choose to rent (or buy) from this complex - regardless of the owner - you deserve anything that happens to you since you have the benefit of reading this warning. I was unaware of "apartment ratings" when I rented here so I wasn't as lucky.

Do yourself a favor, pay a little extra somewhere else and pity those that fell into this trap unsuspectingly.
