I was a victim of the Florida Condo Explosion, during the height of high real estate values in 2006. I had some money set aside and was searching to buy, but couldn't find anything affordable that was decent. My time was short, so I began to look for another rental, and after months of searching, I found it very difficult to find affordable rental property in a decent area of Orlando as well. However, a friend/neighbor from my apartment-turned condo told me about Cloverdale, but when I checked, he was full. I still had a month or so left to look, so I asked the manager/owner to put me on a list if one became available. He said he would, and true to his word, he called just as I was getting desperate.
This "complex" is a mixture of 1 and 2 bedroom apartment buildings, along with a street lined with 2 bedroom duplexes. All are cement block, so they are sturdy. I live in a 2/1 duplex with a W/D hookup, and I love it. The neighbors are of all ages, but all have been friendly.
Management keeps the place up well and encourages you to report ANY problems you are having, and responds quickly to fix them. (The manager/owner sounds "gruff," but he really isn't. He's just a stickler for tenants abiding by his rules, which is completely understandable, and if you stick to his rules, he'll do his best for you.)
The only possible drawbacks might be that the apartments in the apartment buildings do not have W/D hookups, and there is no on-site laundry facility, but there is an indoor, air-conditioned Laundromat close by. Also, this is Florida, so many people want pools at their complexes, but this apartment/duplex community doesn't have one. I actually am glad there is no pool, because I don't think I'd use it, and I think the place is quieter without one. mgFDbN4-dhkSMZ7zRmVH
