Going Downhill

I have lived here since they first opened, and it was very nice at first. However, lately there are a lot of kids hanging out in the parking lot. There are several adolescents who play football in the parking lot. They even hit my car with the ball when I was pulling in to park the other day. When I said something to them, they did not even apologise. I complained to management, and they did address it by sending out a letter to everyone in the community, but it has not stopped. They still play outside nearly every evening after the office closes. Lately, I have also noticed teenagers and young adults hanging out by the porches which never used to happen. Also there are groups of young adults wandering around in the evening, which makes me uncomfortable when I walk to the mailbox. It never used to be like this, but now this place is starting to go downhill. I have lived here over 7 years, but now I am considering moving because of the kids hanging out.
I have also had my share of noisy neighbors. One of my neighbors who has been living here a while, plays their spanish music so loud that my pictures on the wall start to move with the vibration. I understand that apartment living is not quiet, however I wish some of my neighbors would show a little more consideration. I did complain to management a while back, and they sent a letter to everyone in the building including me! I might just as well not bothered reporting it since my neighbors have still continued with the noise.
Most of these problems are not the fault of management obiviously,
they are due to residents lacking consideration, and parents not caring about what their children get up to.
I had items stolen from my car, partly my own fault for forgetting to lock the passenger door. They took everything in my car except my Bible. Another time I left my rechargable portable vacumn cleaner by the side of my car while I went upstairs to get a cleaning item, I was only gone 60 seconds and when I came back my vacumn cleaner was gone. I had seen some kids playing around by the other cars beforehand, and when I returned they were gone and so was my vacumn!!!
Regarding the gates, they have only been closed approximately 25 times in the past 7 years. Quite frankly I'm glad they keep them open. When they have been closed, half the time I cannot get in as they won't open on the entrance side. I have to wait until a car goes out, so that I can get in by going through the exit, which is not the safest thing to do, because the gates are already closing as you go in since they don't register a vehicle going in on the wrong side! I saw a car almost hit by the gates by doing this. I had a couple of close encounters myself, but we are left with no choice when you cannot get in the way you are supposed to!!!
On a positive note, I am very pleased with the maintenance team. Omar, the Maintenance Supervisor is the best! Whenever I have had a maintenance issue he has always taken care of it promptly and courteously. However, I understand what people are saying about the office staff - most of them don't stay very long, and it seems as though there is a new manager and staff everytime I go in the office, which thankfully is not that often. Most of the time they don't even acknowledge your presence when you enter the office. (I guess I must be invisible at certain times)!!!
To their credit however, management does keep the property looking nice, and for that I am grateful.
To sum up, until 2006 I would have recommended East Lake as a nice place to call home. Sadly, I can no longer say this is a great place to live, although it is not the fault of management, but rather some of the people who live at the community.

Yea I agree with you on 2 things.
1, My car was buglarized and they stole everything from my car and they even tried to hot wired it so they could steal it.
2. There are a lot of kids wandering around the neighborhood and that doesnt make me feel safe. They are everywhere and one time I saw a bunch of kids right next to my car and they were sitting on my car and trying to look around. I hope management does something about them else as you you said, the community is going down hill.
