When I moved into this apartment in February 2006, it was managed by JPI. I had absolutely no problems until Equity took over towards the end of 2006.
I came home one day in December 2006 to find my second car GONE. It had been parked in the grass immediately behind my assigned spot (there's a HUGE parking problem here). I went to the office to see if they knew anything about it before I called the police to report it stolen. They were very flustered and said they had to tow it because they needed to work in the grassy area and didn't know who the car belonged to. HELLO'!'!' Who ELSE would it belong to if it was parked in the back part of my parking spot' I had the complex arrange to have my car re-delivered at their expense.
I have called to have pest control come by on two separate occasions, and it has not happened. On one occasion, the office left a message on my parents' answering machine (who were listed on my lease as my EMERGENCY contact) to get permission to enter my apartment. No one called ME to ask MY permission...and my parents were away on a 2-week cruise, so I didn't get the message until they returned home.
I called to have my carpet cleaned on a particular date. I boarded my dog and bird, picked up as much as I could off the floor, and went out of town. When I returned, the carpet was not cleaned. The office claimed no one had scheduled me for a cleaning.
I'm tired of weaving in and out of cars to get to my assigned parking spot. Most times people have parked so poorly that entrances to the block of parking that my spot is in are completely blocked. I'm tired of people parking in the handicapped parking spots with no handicapped tags. I'm tired of my lazy neighbor who parks at the bottom of the stairwell instead of his assigned parking spot.
I'm tired of finding dog poop in the grass and ON THE SIDEWALKS. They finally installed a dog clean-up station behind my building, which helped, but I'm still finding piles of poop not 15 feet from the clean-up station!
I'm tired of trash being picked up irregularly. I'm tired of my neighbor who piles trash up ALL OVER the hallway (spilling out of the valet trash box and piled up along his wall). The hallways smell like dumpsters on the weekends.
In February of this year, one of the outdoor lights burned out (that happens to be right outside my bedroom window). Something in the light itself had broken, because there was an electrical humming in the wall that kept me awake at night, even with earplugs in. It took four months of frequent complaining and finally the threat of a lawsuit based on constructive eviction for them to finally fix it.
I've given up trying to resolve problems with the office. They flat out do not care. I wrote a letter to Equity Residential, which was ignored.
Then to top it all off, my renewal notice came a few weeks ago. They want to raise my rent $30 a month. That doesn't sound like much, but my apartment is currently renting for $100 LESS than I am paying NOW.
So I'm moving out when my lease expires in February, and I can't wait!! I'll NEVER rent from Equity again as long as I live!!!

Yeah since half of your comments had absolutely nothing to do with management and were not their falt. Of course your car got towed because you parked in the grass... you didnt park in a space! And last time I checked, it was the residents responsibility to clean up after their pets, not mgmt. Ive got an idea for you, go talk to your trashy neighbor about the trash outside his door! And what is with the pictures, you obviously took so much time taking them, you could have moved the trash and the dog turds yourself you hipocrite. People like you are the reason apartment complexes get a bad name... I hope you move out sooner so there is more room for decent residents who dont complain about useless stuff like me.
