Okay apartments, but they'll sell out from under you.

I didn't have much of a problem with the apartments as far as maintenance, grounds, noise or management goes. The problem is that they're trying to sell the apartments off as condos and apparently they're allowed to sell your apartment out from under you. I had JUST signed a new 7 month lease--literally two days before so don't tell me they didn't know this--then received a note on my door saying they'd sold the apartment to a private buyer and I should call this number and this person to find out what's going on and where to send rent. I called the number when rent was close to being due since I hadn't heard a word from them, and had to leave a message on some guy's voice mail. No call back. Left another message and left my rent check in the office since I didn't know where to put it. No call back. Got a call back a few weeks later saying he'd be by to fix some of the maintenance issues I had (this unknown person was apparently my new maintenance guy) but no one showed up. Two months later my rent check was picked up, along with the next one, and cashed.

To this day, I have never seen either the buyer, who lives in Puerto Rico and is almost impossible to contact, or the maintenance guy who lives in Orlando. They took months to cash my rent checks, never fixed anything, and never returned my security deposit, nor did they notify me as to why they would keep it. I left that apartment in better shape than when I moved in, and this is what I get in return. I broke the lease to get out of there, gave 60 days written notice as the lease states, paid the last month's rent and the one month's rent fee for breaking the lease, and otherwise did everything by the book. Once I scrape together $80 I'm filing a claim in Small Claims Court against the owner and this other guy for my $300 security deposit.

Grove Park, once they sold the apartment to this person, could do and did absolutely nothing to help me. I'd think twice before renting from them, because you could end up renting from someone in another country who will steal your money and never answer your calls.
