Lack of Proper Management

There's a total lack of skill and caring by the management. The "manager" will not return your calls, is hardly ever there, talks over you and never actually hears what your problem is, the rest of the office staff never delivers messages and tells me I should just call back. If you live in the back of the complex, good luck getting any attention whatsoever.

The roof started leaking in May of this year. I called it up. Nothing. Then I showed a maintenance man the water bubbling in my wall. The maintenance man said they had alot of issues with chimney's leaking and it looked like that's what it was. But still, nothing happened. As we live in Florida, rainy season started in June. My roof was leaking. I called. And called. And called. Nothing. So of course, because of the rain the water bubble in my wall burst, splitting part of my wall plaster in half, and mold started growing all over the wall. Again I called about 3 times. No call back. Nothing. So I just went up to a maintenance man one day and told him the issue. He said that "as usual" the management office didn't tell him anything was wrong with my apartment.

So I come home to the mold being PAINTED OVER. As usual, the cheap way out was taken. No drywall was replaced. And the kicker' They never even fixed the leak. So I called again in July. Workers came out. I spoke with them, and they told me they were never given my apartment number, and were out to fix the other chimneys. I called the management office about this, who told me to tell them what to do. That's pretty much illegal to shift responsibilities onto the tenant when it comes to construction issues for a building. Plus, as I was trying to tell the office, who wouldn't listen, I not only had a chimney leak but water was also coming in through the side of the building.

So I kept calling the management office, my roof kept leaking, the mold kept growing. I still have the work order that the maintenance man left on my table. Finally in September someone came out and caulked up parts of the wall and chimney. But then no one came in to fix the mold. And guess what' My roof is leaking. Again. And I tried calling various times about the mold, but the manager is always out of the office, and other office staff told me that I have to talk directly to him regarding these matters.

Also, they have these wooden "landscape" islands that are falling apart. I've had 2 nails in my foot and have tripped over the decaying and rotting wood at night (Lights at the back of the complex hardly ever work. I also reported this, then finally called Progress Energy myself). I reported the decaying wood, which is a major liability issue. That was in November 2005. I was told "a contracter has been called." Nothing's been done.

I truly am surprised this place hasn't been sued. Most lawyers I've talked to about this say that because it's such an open and shut case of neglect, alot of firms will just do it pro bono. Let me know if any of you guys have pictures too, and maybe we can get something together. Call the news at least and report it to them.
