I Moved into Kirkman Apartments in April of 2007. A number of instances happened that caused me not to re-sign my lease and move away from the metro west area.
After I moved in I noticed that the walls were very thin. I could hear every single thing said in the apartment next to me. I work nights so I do sleep in to about 11 or 12. This was impossible. Second, there was absolutely no parking. In one instance the closest parking spot was about a 4 minute walk to my apartment. So I parked on the street, there was no yellow curb, no fire hydrant, I wasn't violating anyone or anything and yet my car was towed at an $180 expense to me. It bothers me that I pay my rent expecting to have at least one parking spot somewhat close to my place. And yet Kirkman Apartments freely lets tow truck company tow their own residents cars. How about you provide your residents with better parking before you free lance various companies to make money off of your paying customers. And last but certainly not least. On the early morning hours of the 7th of February, a man tried to break into my apartment. I live on the second floor, so he was trying to break down my door. I live alone so this was extremely traumatic for me. I called to police and a report was filed. The next morning I went to the leasing office to tell them about the event that occurred. A woman wrote down my information and said as soon as the manager gets off the phone they will call my cell phone. Today is the 12th of Feb. and still no call. I called them today and was completely pleasant with them in asking what my options were at this point. Explaining to them that I have not been home since, I am staying with my parents. They informed me that the only thing they could do was move me to another unit. I am completely dumbfounded, move me to another unit. My current unit is on the second floor. What would getting a unit do for me. I completely do not understand the incompetence of this complex. I have contacted my lawyer and will proceed with legal action if necessary. So please my friends make a smart decision for your safety and your wallet DO NOT MOVE HERE.

If they had a gate that they advertised for the last 3 years it would help. Two years ago many residents got together and offered to pay for a manned gate and the idea was shot down. By law it is the responsibilty of the company to ensure safety for their residents. But they cannot keep a mananger , how can they protect you! When you have an issue in the future contact the corporate office, then contact the an attorney. The staff is not to blame the company is! If they know it is a rough neighborhood next door they need to take extra precautions to protect it's residents.
