Nice until you move in.

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008
Everything was nice when we moved in. A few paint splotches and nails from previous renters and our closet smelled like cat pee. But everything was fine for a few months. We were told that students weren't really their target renters and that it was a nice quiet community and it was for the first few months.
Then the apartment above us was rented out. The first night they moved in, the new renters had a loud, wild party. After asking them to keep it down, we had to call the police. We told the apartment complex about it and they said they'd have a word with them. Not only were there loud parties, but stomping up and down the stairs and the poor design of the upstairs apartments has their front door in between our living room and bedroom, so that they would stand outside of their door laughing and talking and be right in front of our bedroom while we're trying to sleep. We had to complain about the noise several more times before anything was done.
That wasn't the end of the slow response to problems though. Our living room window began to leak. We reported it and they sent out a guy. He looked at it and never returned. About a month and a half later, before the recent tropical storm we called to see the status of the window and to remind them that they hadn't fixed it and there was a storm coming. They had misplaced the note to fix it. They sent another guy who looked at it and said something about a contractor. We returned after the storm to find a caulk tube thrown outside of our door. The window still leaked. And now the area around our door was leaking. We called again. Another guy came out. We were told a contractor was coming that weekend. We were going out of town and told them we'd rather they not go in our apartment while we weren't home. They said they had to and someone would be with the contractors if they had to go in. I asked why they hadn't needed to fix it so quickly before this, it had been broken for almost 2 months. Needless to say, when we returned, nothing was fixed. We're moving out this weekend and the window and door leak is still broken. The apartment smells of mildew and it's difficult to breathe. A guy came one last time to look at it and said they'd come out tomorrow and to move our stuff. I told him to wait until next week because our stuff will be moved out with us. I don't know if it will even be fixed.
Every time we call with a problem or talk to the people in the office, they either give attitude or don't seem to care. It's no wonder nothing ever seems to get fixed.
