People love to mean when they can be anonymous!

I have really had nothing better to do on a Saturday night than read ratings for my apartment and many others. I even looked at ratings in other cities. The common theme I found was that people love to be mean when they can be anonymous. This just infuriates me, so in response, I would like to add some positive notes about my home. Please read below for a real and true account of life at The Lakefront at Metrowest.

First of all, apartment living is just that. So for all of you people out there complaining about thin walls, crime, leaks, and bugs...get over it. If you are ever successful enough in life to own your own home, you will find the same things...even in really nice homes. It is called life!

Crime. I really hope that people don't think that because they live behind gates or in a certain part of town that they are safe. Orlando is a pretty large, metropolitan area. Regardless of where you live, crime happens and the bottom line is that you are responsible for you! I don't live in apartments b/c I feel like the management company will keep me safe, just like when I live in a neighborhood, I would not expect the homeowner's association to keep me safe. The other thing that amuses me is when people refer to the "type" of people who live in their apartment complex. The racial undertones to these types of comments are hysterical. This is 2004...not 1960's Mississippi. Scared white people...leave. I am a southern, white, middle-class, educated female.

Now I would like to speak to the quality inside the apartments. No, you will not find top of the line cabinetry or flooring inside these apartments. Do you want to know why' People are pigs and will never respect property. Apartment complexes can't put in nice stuff because people, all types of people, will just ruin it and then they have to replace it. The new apartment communities have the same quality inside, it just looks more modern, so you believe it to be better. These places are running a business. If you owned your own business, would you pay top dollar for something you knew you would have to replace in a year' No!

Now to address the management. I respect our mgmt staff b/c when I need something done, they do it. If I have a question they answer it. I know if I have a maintenance request it will get done w/in 24-48 hours which is completely reasonable - they have actually always responded w/in 24 hours. Last week Hurricane Charley came through. The entire management crew worked tirelessly to answer questions, and evaluate all damange. They have quickly resolved problems and were cutting down trees the day after. They are human beings and professionals and deserve to be treated that way.

I realize there are landlords and mgmt companies who do not perform appropriately. But nowadays that is more the exception to the rule. Just because you don't agree with the rules doesn't mean they are wrong. It just means, you didn't do your homework beforehand agreed to them. READ YOUR LEASE, DESPITE WHAT YOU THINK...IT IS LEGALLY BINDING! That is normal. You are renting property from someone, and rules and regulations must exist.

The Lake Front is a very nice place to live. Denise, Diane, Theresa and the rest in the office do a great job. Dustin, Josh, his brother (forgot his name), Eddie and the rest also really work hard to keep this place looking great. They all deserve a round of applause! I will stay here until I either leave Orlando(just moved the beg'g of 2004) or buy my own home.

If you don't like it, move! It is that simple. Everyone has the choice to sign a lease or not. But please...no one really has any right to complain about this place. Honestly!

Have a wonderful day and don't hesitate to rent an apartment here!

I used to live here until they switched to condos. I have to say it wasn't all bad but when you live in any old apartment you share it with the insects that is for sure! I now live in a house and been in it 3 years now and I have no roaches, perhaps occasional bugs that come in but I treat right away and they are gone. With apartments you have problems with bugs because not everyone is clean and they attract bugs...then these bugs travel in the walls and outlets of the building and come inside your place. With that said all you can do is get a exterminator out 1-2 times a month or move to a much newer apartment complex. As for the appliances I was very annoyed about it. Caused us high electricity bills every month. Fridge door does not close all the way and was not replaced with a new. AC freezes up and would contantly freeze over and over. Hater heater leaked and sprayed the appartment. Those never got fixed or replaced. They try and fix it and it breaks over and over. I called them in to fix it constantly. I think the staff and maintnece crew did the best they could for us, perhaps they had to go to higher authority to get appliance replacements so I don't blame the staff but the owners of the complex. There is a difference when you NEED new appliance to replace one that is kicking the bucket and someone that just would like a more modern look. I was here when the hurricanes hit, and I tell you this...the staff was on it as fast as they could. Getting power back and clearing fallen trees and debry. Metrowest became more dangerous to live in during the years I stayed there. It was one of the worst places to be cause crimes became high there. Crime follows everywhere but there are hot spots and this was one of them. I enjoyed being with this appartment though it truly wasn't all that bad for a older place you can't expect too much and this was decent living with pleasant staff members. If I can grade this I would give it a C .
