Several of my friends and relatives have lived in this apt. community and have had only positive things to say about management, maintenance, the neighbors and the neighborhood. Having lived in Pine Hills all my life, I am concerned about the crime rate, but it appears that way all over Orlando. If there IS such a thing as a "Safe Haven", I feel that Laurel Hills is such a place. Because of the concern and care shown by (almost) all residents for their friends and neighbors, I no longer worry about my relative's safety. I know that Management & Maintenance has always done their best to address safety and health issues, while keeping in mind the tenants and their individual circumstances. Due to the recent changes in Management, we will have to wait and see what attitude they take regarding these issues. Sometimes change is good - sometimes not. I recently found out that the young man who use to take care of the maintenance requirements for the residents in this community has left. Mr. Hutto was here for the past 6 years, and during that time, I have heard no complaints about him or his work. My family could trust him to take care of any problem that came up, even after hours or on weekends. I have not had the pleasure of meeting the new Managers/Maintenance, but am looking forward to seeing the improvements they have promised and have already made. In the past, the Management has been very helpful, understanding and considerate of Tenant's concerns and again, I have never heard any complaints about them either. My only hope is that the improvements being made are in the best interest of the tenants (which they seem to be) and not just a way of pacifying those who are unhappy here. Which, to my knowledge, remains a very limited number. And THAT is what makes Laurel Hills so special - it's TENANTS !!! (And my RELATIVE, OF COURSE!)

Well, it's been a year since this review. NEWSFLASH!!! Nothing has changed. Management has NOT improved and Maintenance has plummetted to below acceptable, allowing access to resident's homes WITHOUT PROPER AUTHORIZATION. If you live here, keep an eye on your belongings and don't allow ANYONE access to your apartment when you are not there. Also, if and when management claims to call "Police" - verify their identity. The person claiming to be a police officer may only be in uniform because he is SECURITY - NOT POLICE. During a recent incident, a person REPRESENTING himself as an Orlando Police Department Deputy investigating a claim, had NO identification to show, took NO police report - actually, didn't even have any paper in his hands - never asked for ANYONE's Identification - and did not do ANYTHING after witnessing a dispute involving alleged threats to kill someone - onsite. Is this REALLY where you want to live? Is it where you want your precious family to be?
