Metro at Michigan Park is ok, not great. It depends on your lifestyle, family habits, and personal preferences. Each unit is privately owned, privately owned but under a rental management company, or for sale. This was a condo conversion property. We live in a 2/1.5 Townhouse, that was refurbished and rented through a management company. All appliances were brand new, but we still had issues with the newly installed toliets! When the workers flipped the bathrooms they didn't clean the area / hole / plumbing where the toliets go.. so they clogged and were unusable for about a month until the management company could get someone out. Turns out that the maintance worker pulled out a 30 gal black trash bag, multi tile peices and dried grouting! Even if you rent from a management company , where you pay a application fee, the HOA requires a application for each person on the lease and they want $100 per person for this application! Due to the private owner aspect, each unit can vary depending on how much effort was taken by the owner to refurbish the unit, or if they purchased the unit already refurbished. Most of the units are cookie cutter sytle inside, granite counters, cherry cabinets, bath..etc. Some have the difference of carpets through out (excet bathrooms they all have tile.) or tile downstairs and carpet upstairs. All the town houses have "yards" that you can't keep any type of BBQ grill, or have anything that extends over the height of the 6' fences. And they should not be locked incase of an emergency or if a utiliy box is located in your yard. They allow grills to be used by the pool, but the dont provide them. They allow large dogs, the total weight of the dogs must be under a certain weight. They have a "dog park/walk" it's the part of grass in the back of the complex where the ground in unlevel, and filled with random trash, glass, and hazards for pets. Most people that live in the front of the complex don't bother walking all the way to the back, so grass around the grounds tends to be used, one bonus is most pet owners clean up after their pets (I stress MOST). Parking is a whole other story, we are a two car family, we are assigned one parking spot that is 4-5 parking spaces from our unit entrance. Our other car is parked whereever we can find a non-assigned spot, leaving us to have to walk. We live on the south side of the complex that run along an unfriendly apartment complex. They have kids running around screaming, playing baseball.. etc in the streets. many time have we found baseballs, footballs, and other trash that has been thrown over the metal fence. The teenagers like to jump the fence to cut across the back of our complex to get to the back road. Its a short cut basically. The hedges between the two complexes has began over be overgrown so when you are driving out of the complex and someesle is driving the opposite direction you eitehr have to stop a wait for them to pass, or continue driving and run the risk of the having your car scratched by the over grown shrubs and trees.
One positive note, Bob the Metro "porter" is awesome and very friendly. He works hard to make everything clean, and fix small outdoor items.
