Yes, there are renovations going on..mostly just roofing and trimming of trees, which they are very messy and haven't cleaned their messes up yet. My roof did leak so we will see if this helps or not. They say there is new management, but in order for it to really change they need to rid of all management office staff. Not knowing I do know spanish, the present office staff will speak spanish to her maint. staff about my insignificant complaining right in front of me. This is why I do my own work now.
I have lived here a year, and I will be staying another year only because I can't afford anywhere else. I have heard that the rent will be increasing alot so I am very glad I have locked my year in now. NOT WORTH IT.
True facts...
There are roaches, I get my place treated 2 times a month and they still come around, not as bad though.
There is no medicine cabinet in the bathroom and yes there is a dishwasher and disposal but they do not work.
During my stay, I have fixed my own screens holes, fixed my own drawers in the kitchen so they will open without falling out, and painted the walls correctly ...using primer 1st. I have replaced door stops, closet racks, and cracked and non-working outlets. I soon will be fixing the plumbing in the second bathroom via my cost as I have placed a work order in last month and they still haven't made it around to even view. Fortunately, I am capable of doing all of these things myself and feel sorry for those who can't.
The laminate in the kitchen is awful, as they painted the existing laminate with a paint that wipes off everytime you clean the counters. The "new management" assures me that this will be fixed sometime this year...we will see. Someone else has told me they are replacing the laminate...that is an idea.
I was without AC for 2 months in the summer and Code Enforcement does not help a they are so backed up. I was very fortunate that I worked during the day and went to school at night so as to not have to be home. It is now hopefully fixed as I have payed an AC repairman to fix it myself..he said the wiring was all wrong.
For those of you reading this, my home is better only because I made it happen, not the apartment. I will be staying for another year only because I have sunk too much money to leave. So unless you want to do the same, don't move here...keep up with the site as I will write back in Sept. to fill you in on this coming year.

Just so you know, they resurfaced (painted) my kitchen counters recently, too. They made the mistake of leaving the can of paint behind. It was Appliance Epoxy. I called the manufacturer, and they said not to prepare food on the kitchen counters. The paint is toxic, even when dry. If the paint wipes off when you wipe the counter, how much is going into your food?????? Even using a cutting board, they said, was a risk.
I understand not being able to afford to move, but good grief??? With all the repairs you have done, don't you think you could have used that money to move?????
