Ghetto Neighbors who love to live in filth and run down the complex...

This place was nice for the first 3 months we lived there. We were the first ones in our building, the complex was brand new. Now, after all the junky people who moved in, it's not so nice anymore.

Pros:
-Washer and Dryer in your unit
-1 bedroom unit's bath has 2 doors: 1 to the bedroom and 1 your guests can use, so they don't go through your room.
-Rent is still relatively cheap, in comparision to other places in the area, but this is also an income-controlled complex.

Cons:
-Rude neighbors
-Poorly constructed buidling
-No-pet policy, although in this case, a plus with the paper-thin walls.
-Management has notices delivered often to wrong units.
-Pool was always closed everytime I went to think of using it, then I changed my mind at the thought of all the kids who probably have relieved themselves in there
-Workout facility not open 24/7 for residents.
-Trash compacter was always overflowing and is smack in the front of the complex, making the place look even more trashy and dumpy.
-Gate did not work for the first 6 months we were there and was continuously left open. It was also broken a lot.

SPECIFICS...

Your neighbors:
The parents do not controll the children.
Large toys were in middle of stairwells & staircases
Residents were fixing their cars in the parking lot, Residents blasted loud music.
Residents left cigarette butts in our landing stoop.
They'd hold gatherings right outside our paper-thin bedroom walls, keeping us up all night.

The final straw:
A neighbor's guest harassed a friend of mine who was walking out to her car, and I went with her.
They were sitting on the stairs, smoking what looked like pot, when one of them said to my friend
'Yo mami'. When she did not reply and kept walking,
he said it again and this time moved toward her.
I flipped out, got between them, and told him I would appreciate if he'd leave my friends alone.
(Did I mention these people had 2 children under the age of 3')

And, at Christmas time, my mom and stepdad brought me an artificial Christmas tree in a box. They unloaded it, put it outside my door (I was about 10 minutes away on my way there), decided to go around the corner to McDonald's, came back, and someone had stolen it.
Their fault for leaving it, but c'mon, who steals a fake tree at Christmas'

Management: We often received other tenants' notices, such as Notice to Vacate, or Notice to Remove trash from landing stoop (oh yeah, hope you like the smell of garbage just outside your front door). Or, we'd pay our rent on time, and still get a late notice.

Actual unit: Ours was nice for us because it was new, so no one else had ever lived there.
Working with construction, I realized immediately the poor quality with which the place was built - from workmanship (slopped paint, glue all over floors), to fixtures and materials used, they used the cheapest stuff they could find.
I liked having the washer and dryer right there.
I liked that the bathroom had two doors as I said before. The closet space was also nice for a 1-bedroom.

Location: It is just off 417, close to the Turnpike, there is a shopping center within walking distance, which is convenient, although given the demographic, I would never ever have walked from my front door to the Publix for fear of getting harassed, mugged, or worse.
