Did Like But No More

I recently signed my second year lease here. I have really enjoyed living here for the most part. Yes, the appliances are older but with a few exceptions I have found the complex to be quiet, neighborly and have felt safe here.
However there are very strong indications they are going condo and they have yet to tell any of the tenants. A friend of mine from up north called the complex and asked if they were going condo in near future and was told 'yes, but you can move in for a year and then move out.' How stupid is that' People who live in lower rent complexes don't have the money to pay moving costs, security deposits, etc. for just a year and then pack up and move again!
Some of the tenants in here are aware of the fact the complex is going condo, other's don't have a clue.
Just today management put notices on everyone's door that they would no longer accept third party packages in the office ( meaning if your not home when UPS, Fed-ex, etc. delivers your out of luck ).
I am very angry that this complex ( as well as so many other's ) is going condo and other apartments are charging an arm and a leg for rent.
ANY complex you consider renting from try and find out if they have plans to go condo so you don't waste your time and money moving again in a year or two.

I too am a current resident of this complex. I was told by the previous staff to come back and sign my new lease the week of 10/31, as my lease expired at the end of October. The next thing I know I'm being told I don't get a new lease and that I will be hearing something "shortly" about the condo conversion. What?!?! The notice sent about the condo conversion is useless and not well explained, unless you are a lawyer. For the most part living at Briar Creek was pleasant and uneventful, but this is take over is what most would conside hostile and aggressive. Forget about buying too; they want $110K for a small one bedroom, basically a studio.

This information is very correct. Most of the complexes withen the airport area are going CONDO so please be careful. It is a big waste of time for you to move-in and have to move-out!
