My fiance and I lived here from October of 2003 to April of 2005 when it was Jackson Square. We were from Illinois and I moved to Orlando so I could attend film school. I made the mistake of renting an apartment online. Never again! The first night in our apartment, we heard gunshots. I thought they were firecrackers, but my fiance set me straight about that. When I went to make dinner, the oven door wouldn't open. I couldn't use the oven for a few weeks, until they finally brought us a working used one. In the time we lived there, they had to replace or fix the refrigerator 3 times because it would short out and the food inside ended up spoiling. Our entire building had electrical problems and the power would fluctuate. When we complained to the office, they told us we had to call OUC (the electric company) to take care of it. When we called OUC, they told us that the office had to call them and that if they didn't, we could call the fire department and turn them in for a fire hazard. Needless to say, the people in the office didn't do anything until we threatened to turn them in for faulty electric in the building. We had problems with our hot water heater and it took a month for maintenance to show up to fix it. My husband told them from the beginning that the problem was the filter but they didn't listen and they didn't show up until our fourth complaint. When they finally did show up, the maintenance man, who spoke very very limited English, poked around for a few minutes before telling us that it was the filter. And then he left to get one and didn't return for two days. It took them seven months to fix our air conditioner after we told them it didn't work, so we were without air until the end of July of 2004. Of all the incompetent maintenance men working there, only one was HVAC certified to work on the air conditioning units.

The people below us complained of roaches and we found some in our home. They sprayed once in the entire time that we lived there. The laundry facilities were a joke. Only one washer and one dryer worked and they worked poorly at that.

The office had the parking lots repaved one week and cones were supposed to be put up until we could park in our spaces again. I got back home one night and the cones were gone and there were cars parked in the lot. I parked there and in the middle of the night, we heard the tow truck outside. All the cars were towed away and the office told us that we were told not to park there. Of course, by the time we got up and watched our cars being towed, the cones were back up. The office told us we weren't supposed to park there until the lines were painted in and that there was nothing they could do and blamed the missing cones on the neighborhood kids. We found out later that the towing company was the same company that put the cones up and painted the lines in the parking lot. A serious conflict of interest there and of course, nothing was done when we complained. Luckily, the parking lot was full when my husband got home from work and he had to park in one that wasn't being repaved, so he was able to drive me to the towing company to get my car back.

Stray cats are in abundance here and the neighborhood children seemed to enjoy terrorizing the poor animals. My fiance and I ended up taking in one of the cats when some of the little brats started chasing it up our outside stairs. My fiance sent the kids off and we had ourselves a cat. That is the only good thing that came out of living at Jackson Square.

This complex is dirty, dangerous and not worth the money it costs to live there. The office workers are just there for show and the maintenance men are better off working in fast food. It's a nightmare to find anyone who can speak English and I was fortunate that my fiance can speak Spanish fluently. Otherwise, we would have been even worse off than we were. I'll tell you now, anybody who is thinking about moving here, DON'T DO IT!!! It will be the worse experience of your life.
