2004 = Break Ins, Murder...

Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2004
I rented from Sabal Palms because it was one of the most inexpensive places in the Orlando area (about 600 bucks for a 499 square foot apartment). VERY TINY!
Roaches are a HUGE problem. When I called the office after seeing my 9th roach of the month, they explained to me that "you are only as clean as your neighbor." So I guess seeing roaches crawl through my air ducts, and killing them in my silverware drawers is "A-OKAY."
The biggest reason that I left Sabal Palms was the year 2004. Where within a 2 month period, my best friends apartment was broken in to...and ofcourse, the murder. Did I mention that the robber even took all of her food out of her refrigerator' They took everything from electronics, to clothes, to food, to dog treats. Saftey is definitely an issue at this non-gated community.
Fire alarms were another HUGE problem when I lived there. For approximately 3 months, between 1 and 2 AM nightly, the fire alarm would be pulled. The obnoxious, high pitched sound would wake all of the tenants, and we would be forced to stand around outside until the maintenance worker could drive in to fix the problem. Police were called more than a dozen times, and to my knowledge, no one has been caught.
Words of advice if you are planning on moving to Sabal Palms...you get what you pay for. DO NOT expect a lot for the price you pay. Lock your doors (even if you are just going to get mail), buy ear plugs for the occassional "jokester" who thinks its funny to pull the fire alarm at 2 AM, and most importantly, have renters insurance just incase of a break in.
On a brighter side, Amy from the leasing office is very pleasant to deal with.
