We moved to Orlando in March 2005. After some shocking disappointments we HAD to choose Sabal Palms II. They were the only one with openings @ the time for the dates we were moving. The office staff were nice to start off, but that soon soured. The first problem occured two days after we moved in. We had meet with these ppl several times and never did they say anything about the parking lot getting resurfaced. The very day we were having our newly purchased furniture delivered they were doing our section. I asked the staff about what we should do and they were VERY rude and short with me on the phone. We lucked out that the furniture ppl were late getting to our apartment because once the truck is loaded they cant unload. We would have had to pay for a second delivery.
At first glance the apartment seemed to be in good shape until we started going over it for the move-in inspection. The carpet was filthy, although they did clean it again it still didn't help. The walls were caked up with ugly matte white paint, the covers to the outlet and switches were broken and eventually fell off. The patio screen had a couple of small tears, and the cabinets in the kitchen and bathrooms were peeling. We asked several times about possible repair or replacement but each time we were told they don't make these cabinets anymore and they would TRY to repair them, but they never got back to us on that. We also had several issues with the HVAC, but the maintanence was on top of it kinda quickly. We also had an electrical issue in the master bathroom that took 3 days to get an electrician to come out and fix it. Don't even think about the 24 hour maintanence guarantee. They ALWAYS come up with an excuse to deny you. The only individual in the office that we will talk with is Diane. She has always been so helpful and nice. I know we get attitude from the other office staff becuase they have us pegged and trouble makers. Its also true that they wont do anything about noise complaints. They say that they will leave notice on their door or even try to call, but I don't believe that. Also, we hear every person coming and leaving their apartment. It sounds like they are stomping up and down the stairs, but really they aren't. Its hard to get upset with them because it doens't seem loud to you on the outside. We can hardly wait until October because this time we really are moving. I can't see paying over $1000 for an apartment that is decrepit.
