I just moved into Sabal Palm II (the bigger one with the lake) last week and trying to get a feel for it. My boyfriend is worried about me (white female) taking walks after dark by the lake and thinks it would be safer to walk along the road instead. I walked around there once around 8:30ish pm and didn't see anything for me to be worried about. I'm wondering if anyone knows how to get an official list of crime that has occured in that community, and if it's safe for me to go wandering around inside the community at night. (by the way the gates are no broken and open all the time. So much for the "gated" community aspect)

Hi, I'm also a SWF and I've had no problems walking around the lake at night -- of course I also carry protection. You can call and get crime stats from the Orange County Police Department, but I did it already and can tell you that crime is lower here than most surrounding communities. I absolutely hate this place,but it has more to do with the sorry management than anything else. If you want to walk with someone, let me know -- we can meet and walk together.

First of all, why does your boyfriend think that you are unsafe becuase you are a single WHITE female?, is he still in the mindset of WHITE women being the American dream of all mankind to take advantage of because you are so pure, please. Women of all races are attacked everyday, so read a newspaper sometime. Anyway, I lived @ Sabal Palms @ Metrowest II for two years, and I hated it for various reasons, but as for your safety, common sense is all you need, and I hope that nothing happens to you or any other residents of ANY race.

Hi A, That would be nice. I have wondered around on my own some but some company would be great. I work till 5pm M-F so after that some time would be good for me. Preferably we'll meet before dark the first time. We could meet in the rental office/club house the first time. Let me know if interested.
