I pretty much had to move here. We read the reviews beforehand and confronted the staff about the reviews before signing, but they made us feel like we had nothing to worry about.
Let's start with my list of complaints:
1. They didn't tell me about the trash/sewage/water fee ($60). I expected a water bill, but did not receive one until the end of the 2nd month which caught me off guard. Last place was only $25/mo.
2. W/D is not included. Costs about $36/mo to rent from Azuma. Was included with last place.
3. No cable. Costs about $50 for more than 10 channels. I believe all the places I rented prior provided cable.
4. They require renter's insurance (not necessarily a complaint, but I've never heard of a place requiring it)
5. If rent is not paid by the 4th, they charge you a 10% late fee ($110 in my case). Even though the law apparently says that there is no cap, but should be reasonable, this seems to be quite excessive.
6. I received a warning about my expired tags on a Thursday. I had planned on renewing them the next Thursday when I got paid. Well, I went out that morning to find my car was towed which cost $100 to get out.
7. I had to chase them down to resolve a situation in which I short paid (didn't pay the sewage/water/late fee,etc...). I gave them a check for the amount of rent. It seems they are bad about calling you back.
8. Ant/Cockroach problem. I believe we've had someone come and spray.
9. Gate seems to be broken all the time. When the gate breaks, it seems to be anywhere from 2 weeks to 1 month before they fix it and then it's broken again 1 week later.
10. It seems that we constantly have to call BrightHouse about the internet not working. Probably a wiring issue with the complex.

I'm not trying to portray myself as a victim here, but they come off as extortionist bullies that overcharge for their product.
