You do not want to call this place home!

When I first moved in to Sabal Palms in 2007, I really thought I was going to love living there. The appearance of everything was acceptable, and the people in the leasing office were extremely cordial. After the lease was signed and I got the keys, the first thing I noticed when I walked in my new townhome was the smell of dog urine. After begging and pleading with a once responsive leasing consultant, I was finally rewarded new carpeting. However, it was decided by the experts that only the downstairs needed to be replaced. I won t even go into how sloppy the work was. There are more important things to discuss!
The staff is nearly impossible to get a hold of. I learned that the only way to get something done was to go into the office and speak to someone face to face.
My A/C broke multiple times, and the last time (right before I decided to break my lease and get out of this dump) was a nightmare to get fixed. It was a Sunday, and the maintenance man didn t have the part he needed and couldn t get it until Monday. No problem, I could understand that! He brought me a loud and dirty window unit, but I managed. The next day I left for work and assumed that everything would be back to normal when I got home. Not the case. Nobody called me all day long to tell me that nothing was being done. So I walked to the leasing office and spoke with the maintenance supervisor. I expressed my frustration that no one communicated to me that it wasn t being done. He told me that they wouldn t be able to fix it for a few days. I told him that was unacceptable, and that I couldn t sleep with the garbage disposal/window air conditioner unit another night. No one else has ever had that problem, he says. He then proceeded to get an attitude with me, and yelled at me for being upset with the situation. I told him, I m paying $900.00 a month to live here, I have a right to be upset, and you have an obligation to put up with it.
I was so astonished at the way I was treated; I decided to speak to the assistant manager, Cassandra. She assured me that the maintenance supervisor cared very much for the tenants and was doing everything he could to fix my problem. She then proceeded to make excuses for his attitude, blaming it on the language barrier. I won t even comment on how ridiculous that comment was.
When I decided to move out, I scheduled an appointment with Cassandra to walk through the apartment. She was 20 minutes late, and acted like it was no big deal. By then, the main manager Eltanya Simpson was there, and did the walk through with me. As a side note, this place went down hill ever since she started managing the property. The place was painted a hideous orange color, and looked like it was never finished in some areas, and a major landscaping project was started and after 6 months had still never been completed. The place looked like a total ghetto when I handed in my keys, with no resemblance to the place I had moved into. Well, I suppose after the numerous thefts, break-ins, and even multiple murders, it kind of was the ghetto.
To top it all off, they tried to charge me to have the carpet replaced upstairs. I told Eltanya what happened when I moved in, and she gave me an attitude and said, well why didn t you say something then' Well, I guess I was just relieved not to be living in the humane society anymore I don t know'! I tried to explain to her the common sense of it all. The carpet downstairs was new when I moved in, and you can see what it looks like now. Do you really think the upstairs is going to be that different if it was my fault'
I have never written a complaint like this because I just don t have time, and most things aren t worth it. But as long as I have a breath in me and live in Orlando, I will warn people about this place. Stay far away from it!

OH SO TRUE!!!!
The managment there is a joke! How they still have a job is beyond me!! The assistant manager is rude and the manager is just plain dumb. I believe the term to be used would be flake but even that doesn't do her justice! They run on their own time frame for everything from service requests to written requests. And the worst part is half the maintenance team doesn't even speak english!! How can anything get done if they don't understand a word coming out of your mouth...this is the USA correct?? If you would like to enjoy coming home this is not the place for you! Much like the person above I paid over $2000 to get out of this place as well. And as far as I am concerned it was well worth it!!
