An alternative to dorms

IMPORTANT
If you use the internet a lot, DO NOT MOVE HERE. They have a limit on bandwidth that is really annoying and once you go over your internet doesn't work or is extremley slow. This is why I'm moving out.. I need the bandwidth for my major and sometimes I have to drive to UCF just to use their computers. This is false advertising on their part.

The management is incompetent. They really need to update their system of records because I've been given eviction notices three times so far, and I pay on time every month. They say, "oops, we lost your check" or something like that. It has always been their fault.

The price, about $2000 per month, is a ripoff for the 4 bedroom 4 bath apartment that you get. The good thing is that there are individual leases, and that it's only a little over a mile to campus. And that is through the back way through Research Park, where you don't have to deal with traffic on Alafaya. This is the major selling point for this complex. I am currently buying a 3bedroom house where the mortgage will be about $850, this is a much better deal financially. However, nobody who lives at Village@science drive is actually paying themselves (parents are).

The building has lots more insulation than other apartments, but I can still hear my roommate have sex (and he's not loud anyway). My sink is clogged with algae and the maintenance people still havn't came after a request a week ago. Parking is only a problem at night, and then you have to walk a while to get home after you find a spot. This should not be an issue in this price range. Also, the amenities like basketball court, volleyball court, computer center, are pretty pathetic. The computer center is like a Tandy computer from the 80's :).

One more really annoying thing is that they barge into your apartment constantly for any reason they think of. I think we've had 3 fire equipment checks, and 1 "furniture check" to see if the furniture was still there! This is obviously so they can find something against the lease so they can kick you out and you have to pay the FULL years rent... even if you don't live there.

So all in all- Don't move here unless you're a rich puritan.
