More cons than pros (kinda long)

I know it says this in about every review, but the apartment was NASTY when we moved in- stains on the floor, cheese and animal crackers under and in the couches, clothes behind the washer and drier, bird feathers on the floor, holes in the walls, VOMIT stains and a dirty tissue under my bed, and when I tried to open my closet door it fell on top of me. After my roomates and I complained we found out that ours and another building hadn't been cleaned at all and that there was a waiting list and the cleaning staff wouldn't get to our apartment for a few days. Well luckily two of my roomates parents were with us, so they went down and bitched at the office staff, who's excuse was "well we didn't get to clean them because of the hurricanes". After those two parents bitching, and mine and my other roomate's parents calling the office, they finally sent a cleaning staff to clean the apartment.

The cleaning staff...aka a spanish woman who didn't speak english and her 8 year old daughter who also acted as her translator. They cleaned decently. Of course I recleaned my bathroom and bedroom. It took a week to get someone to come and clean the carpet, and when Mike from the office looked at the vomit stain on the floor, his reply was "my friend lived here last year and he didn't do this"...so I guess he was blaming it on me.

Our dryer broke within the first week. Took a few days to get maintence out there. Me and on of my other roomates didn't have internet for a month. It took several several phone calls to Larry at the front office and the Internet company to get them to turn it back on, only for it to be turned off again.

Everything went smoothly until the guy who lived above me's girlfriend was held at gunpoint in another apartment in the complex and the cops were outside our windows all night. That was kinda scary. Not to mention the threats to the guy above me afterwars and the black guy standing outside our apartment for hours during one of the hurricanes...just starting at the apartment like he was waiting for someone/something. Scary.

Then there was the dishwasher that exploded above us. Caused a huge water stain all across our living room cieling and our kitchen light to burn out. The solution' Fix the light and paint over the water stains. Well it looks all nice now but I hope the ceiling doesn't rot out and cave in for the next group of people living there.

There's a lot of parties going on, but we did our fair share of that as well. I never had a problem sleeping or doing work though, except for when the people above us were playing dance dance revolution, lol. But that was more funny than annoying.

Zaida and Tony were really nice in the office, not to mention some of the maintance staff. My boyfriend lost his wallet in the parking lot and Zaida looked inside, saw my picture, and called my cell phone right away to let me know she had found it. I never had a problem with parking, but then I hear that some people did, so i dunno. The front gates were never closed, but there was usually a cop sitting in the front of the complex or driving around, which gave us more of a sense of security. There's back roads that lead to the campus, which was very convienent. Over all- it was an okay experiance. Definently not the worst I've heard of college apartments, and a lot of the crap that happend we can look back and laugh about it now.
