MY EXPERIENCE (BAD)

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2008
When you read about Science Drive and visit Science Drive, it seems amazing. It's a little more pricey than your average college housing, but it seems worth it. Until you unlock your door that first day.. (oh wait, you can't, wrong lock and key!..you wait 2 hours in the office for them to fix it) you walk in and you see your zebra couches. Is that zebra print' I don't know! I can't tell under the 5 layers of dirt and grime and all the holes and rips and stuffing coming out. I expected my place to be a little worn in, a little stained, a little dirty- I really did. This was just atrocious. There is no padding under their cheap carpeting that also has holes, stains, rips, and lumps. You must document this on your move in form or you'll be charged with it when you move out. No, wrong..doesn't matter, they will still charge you for it! We spent three hours scrubbing baseboards (I personally don't care about baseboards but my roommate was a little OCD), 3 of the 4 toilets were COVERED in mold. Mold in the tank and in the bowl, mold in all the showers, none of the showers drained because of the hair. It really wasn't that noisy, and our apartment really wasn't that dirty (compared to neighbors and friends who were also moving in). My real complaint is how they will suck your money away from you. They charged me $600 in damages when I moved across the hall into a different apartment after I renewed (not quite sure why I renewed, don't ask..). $200 of the damages was for the 'missing mattress' which they had taken out because I brought my own mattress! $100 dollars was because my bathroom needed to be cleaned (but management will be very nasty when explaining and very accusatory "Well YOU left the bathroom and absolute disgusting and FILTHY mess and WE had to clean up what YOU did"..for the record I bleached down my bathroom AND cleaned the hair out of my drain!). SEVEN DOLLARS TO REPLACE A LIGHTBULB (that was working when I shut the door and left!), 80 dollars for blinds (that fell out when I tried to raise them because they were not installed properly), and $100 because they didn't like my paint job. It did not cost them 100 dollars to touch up the corner where the ceiling meets the baseboard in one corner.. the list goes on. When my three new roomies and I moved in across the hall, there was blood and stains on our zebra couches, the carpet was disgusting and rough, the linoleum was stained yellow, the drawers and shelving in the fridge broken, the pantry door not on its hinges, the AC did not blow cold air and also soaked the hallway and the wall, the walls were black with hand and feet marks, etc..etc..ETC. Also, the apartment I had transferred from..was unoccupied from the months April and on. They tried to charge me 80 dollars in overages for more than one of those months. NO ONE WAS LIVING IN THE APARTMENT. When I told them this, they said "do you still have your key'" and I said 'yes' and then they said 'well then you're still technically living there SO YOU MUST PAY', raising their voice at me and then hanging up. I've never been rude when inquiring about my extra charges (regardless of the fact I've had to ask at least 12 different times), yet they are always rude and have an attitude with me. One of the CAs with long blonde hair has perhaps the emptiest head and doesn't know what she's doing and doesn't know how to answer questions. She's very rude and has enough attitude to share and evenly distribute amongst the other 12 CAs. Very snappy, very trite unpleasant little girl. Needs a good slap in the face. Some people are allowed to have dogs, while others aren't. Even after my roommate was told my management in writing she was permitted to have her cat, they still charged us three different times with 200 dollar fees each. One time my first year I made a dolphin noise and the next morning my three roomates and I woke up to 4 letters in our mailbox accusing us of having an animal (because someone 'heard' an animal)..$250 dollars per roommate. That we settled in the office, they didn't even apologize. Trash is supposed to be picked up everyday, but if the trash people don't come by 5 the management is sure to nail you with putting trash out AFTER it was picked up (even though trash never came). Also, if you need management to come by to look at something (or even maintenance) and they make an appointment to do so, they will not keep that appointment. My first year it took us two weeks to actually get the manager to look at our AIDS ridden couches.
ALSO!! when I renewed I receive the 'renewal special'..they RAISED my rent 5 dollars! I spoke with them about it and said that WAS the renewal special. AW THANK YOU!!
