You get what you pay for...

Years at this apartment: 2009 - 2009
I ended up living at Science Drive because a friend I had planned on living with had heard good things about it. When we first came to tour, I was very pleased with the apartment we were shown. The rooms and closets were huge and it was definitely better than the dorm I was in. The girl that showed us around could have been a bit friendlier but the rest of the staff seemed pretty approachable and easy going.
Since living at Science Drive, I can understand where the previous opinions, good and bad, are coming from. The paper thin walls can get pretty annoying when trying to sleep at night and all you hear is the people above you moving around. Looking back, it would have been worth the extra $10 to live on the top floor...although with overages it gets pretty pricey regardless. Another issue I have run into is visitor parking. When I have friends come in town it takes forever to find somewhere for them to park. After a while I figured out if my roommates and I park in visitor and move our cars when friends show up it worked out. My biggest complaint has to be the lawn service mowing and blowing at 9am. It is extremely hard to sleep with a lawnmower outside your window every week. It also kind of stinks that you aren't allowed to have pets.
Other than that I have enjoyed living here. Based on complaints from other friends at different apartment complexes, I realized Science Drive is one of the better options for apartments off campus. The maintenance staff is awesome. They're so friendly and useful. Anytime I have put in a work order they come the same day and fix it. The shuttle is pretty convenient as well. I normally drive to class during the week; however, the shuttle runs on game day which is a HUGE convenience. Also, they have trash pick up so you don t have to walk it to the dumpster. You can throw it outside your door and they come pick it up for you.
Overall, I feel like I get what I pay for. As far as college living goes, it s a pretty good place to live. Close to everything yet still out of the way so there isn t main road traffic. The apartments are large and clean and the place has a good atmosphere. I would recommend it to any student looking for a nice apartment off campus.
