If you've read some of the other opinions about these apartments, you know what I'm going to say. This apartment complex is terrible. Here's just a few of the complications my wife and I have experienced since moving in:
1. When we first moved in, we gave the office a list of things that were wrong with the apartment. To date, one has been fixed. One other repair was attempted, but I ended up having to complete the job myself. Bottom line, the maintenance department does not care about the renters or the apartments.
2. Not only do drug users and sellers frequent our complex, they also live there! That's right, parents. Move in next door to marijuana dealers! Now there's a perk they didn't tell you about in the brochure!
3. Many of the residents like to exercise their right to your belongings. It's a "family" complex, so what's yours is also your neighbor's! Bottom line, padlock anything not inside your apartment(including your car).
4. Unlike most other apartment complexes, Waldengreen Apartments does not offer any perks or specials. No more garbage service because the maintenance crew is too lazy to get on the golf cart and pick it up. Also, you can forget about getting things fixed in your apartment. Like I mentioned earlier, I have numerous parts of my apartment that are literally falling apart.
5. WALDENGREEN APARTMENTS WILL CATCH YOUR PETS AND GIVE THEM TO ANIMAL CONTROL. I had my dog out on the leash one day and the manager of the complex rode by on her golf cart and asked me if that was my dog and asked why she wasn't on a leash. I told her she WAS on a leash. She left, but I had the feeling that if my dog had been outside unattended, she would've snatched her up and carted her off to who knows where.
6. The apartments are old and falling down. My wife becomes depressed every time she walks in the door. The office staff did an excellent job of sprucing up the model apartments, but they forgot about all the rest of the apartments on property; the ones that people actually live in.
7. One of the biggest perks of living at Waldengreen Apartments is, after living there for one year, they reward you by raising your rent! My friend, who has just moved out, lived there for 2 years and they showed their appreciation by raising her rent. Also, when she told them she was moving out and asked when they were going to do the final walk-through, they said, "We'll do it when we get around to it." So basically, she won't get her deposit back.
So, you can see what a great little community we have here! I could sing its many praises for hours on end, but I do have to get back to killing all the spiders, roaches, and carpenter ants that rent the apartment with us.
If you skipped all the way to the bottom, here's a summation of my review of Waldengreen Apartments in 4 words. DO NOT MOVE IN.

USED TO WORK HERE & CAN RESPOND TO YOU HONESTLY: 1. If a service request is not completely/ repaired properly, we need to know. Some repairs may take more than one trip. We can't see through walls or read minds. We need residents to communicate. 2. The police must be called to prove this is happening and generate a report. Without this the office cannot take action to enforce a drug-free community. 3. I don't remember any instances were neighbors were stealing from one another. And I know we would never refer to our community as a "family" one; This would violate Fair Housing standards. 4. We have always had move-in specials more often than not having any. The trash valet was discontinued because a few residents continually put there trash out on non-designated days (we did it 3 times a week) or were putting dangerous materials in their trash bags like glass or other shart objects. And it is the residents responsibility to report any maintenance concerns to the office. If we don't know, we can't fix the problem. 5. I could not imagine this manager ever calling to have a pet picked up "just because" as suggested here. However, if a dog is tethered, loose, unattended and/or not under the control of the owner it violates our community rules & regulations and government laws as well. This manager enforced rules and it sounds like this person may have had their pet tied up to something. This is not permitted by law. 6. The models have not had any work done in them in years and years. The units themselves get paint, carpet cleans/replacements, new tile or vinyl if not done already, maintenance and a good cleaning between residents. 7. I don't know of any community where the rental rates go in reverse. Yes, there are increases upon renewal but it's less or more depending on what you've been paying and what market rates are. We didn't just jump people up to the market rate. Walk of move-out comment-FALSE. We walk them as soon as we can, almost always the same day. But we cannot say when because it depends on what's going on that day. If you turn in keys, I can't say "This will be walked today at 2:30" only because it may be at 4 or tomorrow morning. When the inspection is actually done has nothing to do with whether or not someone gets there deposit refunded. Lastly: Pest control was always provided regularly to the building perimeters on a rotating schedule. However, to have the interior treated all a resident would have to do is put in a request and the tech would be there that Tuesday. However, carpenter ants are nocturnal and require a nighttime treatment and spiders only respond to contact ("squish"). |
