If you have other options . . TAKE THEM!

Years at this apartment: 2004-01-01 - 2007-01-01

This has been my first apartment living experience and all I can say is if this is how apartment living is then I will NEVER live in an apartment again! Here is my list on why . .
1st gripe -
Maintenance: Dare I even call it that. I had lived there for maybe 3 years and the washer broke, my dryer broke (4 times), my dishwasher leaks, hot and cold handle on my bathtub faucet broke (had to fix this myself after using a tool to turn it on and off for months), the bedroom door doesn't shut all the way, the refrigerator freezes everything (gotta love frozen eggs and milk) and my personal favorite, my air conditioner broke, in the middle of summer.
I'll elaborate on some of these and how "maintenance" handled them.
The washer had a hole in the tub and was leaking water into the downstairs apartments amazingly they replaced it in about 2 weeks with a new one, best experience I think I had with maintenance. What went wrong after that, I couldn't tell you.
The drying on the other hand was a much bigger mess. It stopped heating up so we called to have it fixed, after a few days they came and looked at it and told us they needed a part that would come in about a week. It took longer than that but they did finally fix it only to have it break again a couple months down the road. By this time I had just had a new baby and was really in need of a working washer and dryer. Took them about the same amount of time but they seemed to have fixed it again. Wrong, we went through this one more time before they got someone who actually knew how to fix it or was willing to spend the time to fix it the right way. He was actually shocked to find that it had been fixed with a cheap little piece of metal in place of that "part" that was supposed to have been ordered and installed.
I don't think they ever came to fix the leaky dishwasher even though we alerted them.
But by far the worst case was when our air conditioning stopped working in the middle of summer (in Florida) on the 3rd floor when I was 7 months pregnant. We alerted the office that day and they told us they would send someone. We waited the entire day and no one came. We went into the office to see what was up and they told us again that they would send someone. No one came. On this went for almost a week before someone finally came and guess what the problem turned out to be - well apparently the day it had stopped working they had also been servicing the air conditioner boxes outside and had forgotten to flip the switch back on. Wow.
Second gripe -
Lovely little notes on the door: Boy do they love to enter their tenant s apartments! I can honestly say the longest time in between entries for us was maybe 3 months at the most and that's pushing it. If you're a private person like myself then you will be hugely inconvenienced by their constant in and outs of your apartment. We even had a couple notes telling us that they were going to be coming in and it was going to be sometime within a week s amount of time anytime between 8am-5pm. A long time to be on edge about some stranger coming into your home. And yes, they just walk in if you don't get to the door fast enough, so forget showering during those times.
Third gripe -
Bugs!: Yep, all the other reviews weren t lying when they said this place is infested with bugs. If you like to be woken up in the middle of the night by a cockroach crawling on you live here! If you like to set down your plate only to come back to a cockroach enjoying your dinner live here!
Also I don t know about other apartments but we couldn t turn off our outside light above our door that just happened to be also above your bedroom window. If you like your room dark at night then you re out of luck.
I could really go on and on but I ll stop at that. If it s ether a box under a bridge or Watauga Woods, I would seriously consider the box. About the same living situation with no rent!

I have never heard a more ridiculous, long, drawn out whiny complaint list EVER! Geesh, some Americans are so ridiculous. Everybody wants super cheap rent but they do not want to deal with even a few minor problems. If you want to be pampered, I invite you to pay for a million dollar home in Bay Hill. Yeah, you can enjoy your perfect community but you'll never be able to leave it because you will be so broke. LMFAO!!

Gotta love how everyone calls me whiny for adding my 2 cents on this place. We've since moved into another apartments in a different state that is, you guessed it, LESS rent and I haven't had even close to as many problems as I did at Watauga Woods. We've had one problem with the dishwasher and guess what, they came that day to fix it. They also have NEVER come into our apartment for no good reason or should I put it as watagua always did "A regular inspection". Yeah, no thanks. They also have a little thing here where you have to sign a release to let them enter your apt without you home or if you're unavailable (showering, bathroom, you know all those things you do in your home that's PRIVATE)to answer the door. Sorry but that's the way it should be. I also think that in FL, in the summer, letting someone go without air conditioning for a week in unacceptable. Period. I probably could have sued them for endangering myself and my unborn child and if I was the whinny spoiled person you all say I am I would have. Maybe things have changed but when I lived there it was nothing but problem after problem. Those of you who like to live like that must have pretty low standards, enjoy it! For the rest of us, we'll pass, thanks.
