I see not much has changed there...

I fled Woodhollow several years ago.

When I first moved in, it was actually a rather nice place -- the first two or three years were great.

It was relatively quiet, my apartment had been freshly painted and renovated before I moved in, and the rent (less than $500 at the time) was as cheap as you could find without going into the heart of slumland.

But things gradually went downhill over the next few years.

In all fairness, so did the whole area over that time.

I figure once several nicer apartment complexes went up down the road (near Millenia) and the Food Lion across the street closed (leaving the nearest grocery stores several miles away), it became harder and harder for them to get quality tenants.

Others have hit all the familiar "lowlights," but I can also add such things as: people STOMPING up and down the stairs at all hours; others standing on their porches/balconies carrying on loud (practically SHOUTING) conversations with people in the parking lot; and some with junker cars who would loudly rev their motors at 6 am for 20 minutes just to get their hunk o'junk moving.

Oh, and of course the many folks who didn't seem to be able to muster enough strength to get their garbage INTO the dumpsters, and would just leave it on the ground next to them.

That was always a nice touch.

Right next to me was an apartment from which could be heard loud clunks and thumps all day and all night (I think they just constantly moved the furniture around for recreation); the one above me never had the same tenant(s) for longer than a few weeks at a time, and most of them stomped around like elephants or played loud music; catty-corner from me were three or four Hispanic women of unknown relation to each other, plus an infant and a young child (both of whom with the lung capacity of an opera singer), ALL living in a 500 sq.

ft.

studio in violation of both their lease and local regulations; and those were just a few of my neighbors there.

The only way I could sleep was with heavy-duty earplugs PLUS headphones pumping white noise into my ears.

And even that was never enough to deal with the thumping bass of any "music" lover within three buildings (the kind of bass you can FEEL as much as hear).

Maintenance I do have to say never gave me any trouble, but I had little need for them -- my a/c konked out a couple times and they were there the same day to fix it both times.

The office staff had a couple of decent folks, but others who went out of their way to be annoying.

In fact, at one point they were threatening to throw ME out because I was a "troublemaker" who had the audacity to repeatedly complain about noise.

Late fees on the rent were exorbitant -- they used to pro-rate it, but then changed to a flat $150 fee.

One month, I didn't get the money together until the 5th (their deadline) -- forgetting to bring it by, the next morning I overslept and got by the office literally 2 minutes after they opened, and they socked me with the late fee.

The irony being that if I had awaken a few minutes earlier, and just stuck the check in the slot at 7:59 am before they opened, there would have been no late fee.

(I mean, yes, TECHNICALLY it was late, but c'mon -- 2 minutes')

I eventually bugged out of there with no notice and feel no remorse.

Yes, there are worse places in Orlando, but not too many unless you want to go straight ghetto.

If you have absolutely no alternative, then try Woodhollow, but be prepared for a rocky time there.
