I was so excited to live in this apartment complex. During move in the staff was very pleasant and helpful. The rooms were huge and you get your own bathroom, and the furniture in my apartment was new.

During my stay, we had several problems with maintenance and the office staff. During hurrican season all of the bedrooms in my apartment had problems with leaking, in the walls and all over the carpet. When reporting these problems to the office, no one seemed to care. They sent someone almost a week later to dry the carpet and almost 2 months later someone came to permanently fix the problem.

We were charged almost every month for electricity overages. My friend was towed because there were no spaces left in visitors parking. The office staff was usually very rude and uncaring.

Moving out was the worst nightmare! They expect every crevice to be clean. They do not clean anything after you leave! I am waiting now to see what charges they will come up with for me to pay. I have heard that almost no one gets their deposit back.

Overall, Riverwind is not worth the headache during move out time.

Unfortunately, there were alot more people in this area in far worse shape during the hurricanes that needed the contractors and carpet vendors immediate attention. People who lost their homes and roofs and were up to their knees in water. As for the move-out process, per Florida Statutes, it is NOT the Landlord's responsibility to clean the room/apartment in any way. It is the resident's responsibility to clean. All charges that are accessed against the security deposit are valid. If the resident did not document exsisting damage on a Move-In Inspection Report upon move-in, they will be paying for the damage. This security deposit of $225 doesn't even begin to cover the costs of some of the damage residents cause. For the record, LOTS of former residents get most if not all of their deposits back. Unfortunately, only the ones who caused extensive damage utilize this site.
