Ok so as with most of you I studied all the reviews and knew that most were just upset people who wanted to vent. I saw this place took a tour and wow it looked great. They had security gates (which have never worked since I started living here),video surveillance (which is not a form of security as stated in lease), and the biggest rooms in the area (only 2 rooms in the apartment are the size claimed). So of course it was a no brainer I had to sign....... BIG MISTAKE!!!
The second day at my apartment I had a fire ant infestation, with ants crawling all over my walls, bathroom, clothes, and bed. I immediately contact the office and the managers.....Nothing they can do about it until pest control comes on Friday. My questions of what I was suppose to do with ants in my apartment and bed were answered by the phrase I don't know what to tell you. I asked to be transferred to be able to avoid the ants due to the fact I wasn't able to live in that apartment until they were out anyway. They told me they wouldn't move me.....
Ok, so now two weeks into my lease I finally was able to live there, of course I had to clean all the dead ants out of my apartment and buy new sheets. I figured fine I guess I will at least be ok for the rest of the year and just move out.... WRONG The next day I go out of my room in my apartment to get something from the fridge and there is a fog in my common area....My roommates are around a hookah smoking pot. You ask how I know it was pot well the fact was there was still more on the table right next to the hookah in a baggie.
Now I'm not uptight but sorry marijuana is illegal so I called the seminole county sheriff. They responded about 35 minutes later and took all the drugs from the apartment and wrote up a very long report which my apartment complex and I were suppose to receive. I received my copy but my apartment complex tells me they never received theirs and that I'm in violation of MY LEASE because I never gave them a copy. I never knew that I was part of the Seminole County Sheriff's Department....
Due to them never receiving the report nothing happened to my roommates and up to this point the Cops have been called 4 times and Riverwind Apartment's Management claims to have never received any reports while the Seminole County Sheriff's Department has sent them all 4 copies each time an incident has happened.
I don't know about you but when you entrust where you will be living with an apartment complex you hope for COMPETENT MANAGEMENT this is definitely not the case here unfortunately. They blame the resident's for everything and never do the work they should to help their resident's have an enjoyable stay. Please take my warning not as an irate tenant but as someone that doesn't want anyone else to go through the NIGHTMARE known as being a tenant of Riverwind Apartments.

The management is AWFUL and UCF should be warning people against them; they blame students for everything and try to intimdate them. But if you can't get out of your lease,and you're a student, have your parent call. They are relatively responsive to parents, we found. (My son lived there last year, and is in a wonderful new place this year.) Hope this helps.
