Good value, but, mediocre apartment living

If you're looking for a plain-vanilla, cookie cutter apartment in a great location, Arbor Club is for you. There's plenty of access to shopping, fast food, and PJC if that's what you're looking for. You could live at Arbor Club and not use your car for days, but in Pensacola, people get in their cars to drive half a block, so I don't think that will be happening for most.
Overall, I was happy with my small one-bedroom apartment. I moved into a clean apartment and had very few maintenance needs. When I did need maintenance, staff members were prompt and friendly. I do wish that they had called ahead more often, as I worked strange hours and was sometimes home asleep when they barged in to do an unannounced "fixtures inspection."
The floor plan leaved a little to be desired, in my case, because one wall was too short for my average-sized couch, and the other wall did not have an electrical outlet, so I couldn't plug in my TV. I ended up with my couch in the middle of the room, which was not the best use of space. Also, with my floorplan, the bathroom was attached to the bedroom and no other room. That was a pain, as sometimes I did not care to have guests tromping through my bedroom in order to access the bathroom. Also, the vanity area in the bathroom had carpet and not tile. I've never understood why someone would want carpet in a bathroom when there's no avoiding dropped toothpaste, make-up, medicine, etc.
Towards the end of my stay, there was a change in management and the staff deteriorated very quickly. I had several lost packages, which is part of apartment living, I guess, but still a pain in my rear. Communication between me and the staff dwindled to almost non-existant (i.e. I could not get in touch with anyone who knew what was going on, if there was such a person in the place). I decided not to renew, but my 60 days' notice was lost by management. That was the icing on the cake that made me realize I was making a good decision in leaving.
You get what you pay for in these complexes, and Arbor Club is relatively affordable. It's a decent, fairly cheap place to live for a year or so, but I wouldn't want to be stuck there longterm.
