Management takes advantage of military members

I lived at Crystal Lake for about three weeks short of two years. For the past year there has been a 1-foot ditch around 3/4 of my building for some aborted maintenance project. The walls are paper thin; I could hear not only sounds, but complete conversations and other sounds from my neighbors.
Standards are not enforced. The breezeway smelled of urine and there was pet feces everywhere from my neighbors. They were the only ones in the building with a dog and I complained multiple times, but the management did nothing. Also, several people would just leave their trash in front of their doors rather than walk the 1/2 mile to the nearest dumpster.
As an officer in the Air Force, I knew a move was coming and I let apartment management know about it well in advance. I didn't receive my orders until two weeks prior to actually moving, as is not uncommon in the military. I let management know immediately. During move-out they said everything was fine. A few weeks later I received what was left of my deposit after they charged me over $300 for short-notice move out. At move-out my lease had three weeks left on it.
I would avoid this place like the plague. Pay more, drive farther, do whatever you have to do to not live here.
