These apartments are infested with bed bugs. They are these horrible, vile, tiny (almost unnoticeable) creatures that can hide in walls, baseboards, carpets, etc. and they feed on blood. They are like fleas, but worse -- and almost impossible to get rid of. My roommate has been battling these bugs for almost a year. She wakes up with bites all over her body and now all of our furniture is contaminated as well.

We went to the apartment manager (Penny), and she claims that the bed bugs are our fault and we are responsible for payment and treatment! She is unreasonable, rude, and WILL NOT work with you to find a reasonable solution. There have been apartments near us that have had bug problems as well. However, Penny refuses to disclose ANY information about what the infestation was and how many cases there have been.

DO NOT MOVE IN HERE.

I didn't have this problem when I was there, but I would have (and suggest you do) call the health department. If nothing more than to have documentation of the apartment's inhabitable state in the event you have to sue for your deposit or break your lease.
