The main thing that sucked about Marcus Pointe was the location. There's a reason they call this part of Pensacola 'Car City'; the only things close to Marcus Pointe are a bunch of car dealerships. I also wouldn't recommend it to military types, even if you are a pilot planning on going to Whiting; it's a full 30 minute drive in the morning to NAS and longer to Whiting. Easy access to the highway and Cordova Mall though. The actual facilities at Marcus Pointe are nice. Very spacious apartments, seemed well constructed and appointed to me despite the reviews to the contrary. Mine was also plenty well lit by installed lighting; I didn't need to buy a single lamp or light fixture. My single bedroom unit also had a built in entertainment center/computer desk that probably saved me a couple hundred dollars on those pieces of furniture, at least if you're just starting off on your own. The internet/cable provider (Com One) is pretty unreliable and unresponsive to service requests, but not too expensive. Noise is a bit of a problem; you're only a few blocks from the EMS shed for Northern Pensacola, and while my bedroom was quiet all the time, sometimes the music from other apartments would bleed through into the living room, even if it wasn't too loud. I can't really recommend Marcus Pointe to military types, but if you are living and working in Pensacola in the area around Marcus Pointe, the location probably won't seem as poor to you. I'd still recommend thoroughly checking your other options first.
