Decieving Appearance...Overly priced...Terrible Staff

I first moved into Marcus Point in early 2006 at which time was under different management. We moved in June 2007. Marcus Point has changed management since than and is absolutely the worst that I have ever dealt with. God forbid you have a problem because it won't get fixed until it is time to move out. Also, as we started to move out, we were given a checklist of items that were required to be cleaned. We (by we,I mean my wife and mother-in-law who have the ability to make germs scream) spent days cleaning and scouring every inch of the apartment. In fact, we cleaned behind things that had never been touched- some to include behind the stove and the refrigerator (nevermind that there happened to be nails and other construction trash from when the place was built) At check out time, they said they were unavailable to do the "walk through" and that we should just leave our key there with them. How convenient. After moving to Panama City, we got a notice in the mail nearly 2 MONTHS later that we owed over $120. 120 dollars''' We were expecting $40 back. Prior to moving out, they had told us that it would be cheaper to get the carpet cleaned through them rather than go to a seperate company...they said $60 for a 2 bedroom. They charged us $100 for a "much needed deep clean", although NOTHING of that nature was stated in the contract. Then they charged us $75 for a key which is stated in the contract as $50 for a lost key. So $110 should have been deducted from our deposit, thus leaving us $40, right' Wrong- They supposedly spent 4 hours cleaning our apartment. I could see that it might take that long...if you were Helen Keller. After then calling and disputing this with the head manager, she said that it was all in the contract. Really' So I then pulled up the original contract and the check out paper that had all the fees assessed if not done correctly and proved her wrong. She still would not give me my money! She then said that she would just call it even as if she was doing us a favor. Likewise, I quit at that because I was tired of the crap. Speaking of crap, that reminds me. Marcus Pointe has a rule that you must pick up after your dog. Then why did I see the lady from the front office let her dog crap on our neighbors lawn and then walk off' Good question. One last thing- For the apartments being new, the people that built them did a terrible job. I think my dead dog could do a better job alligning the cabinet knobs (they must have been 3 inches off). The tiles are shoddy and look dirty much of the time. The bathroom has a mildew problem. The blinds are cheap and easily broken off (which by the way, they charge $10 per slat if not cleaned upon move out) . The Cable and Internet are TERRIBLE. Try watching a tv show when the channel is frozen for 3 days. Then when you call COM ONE and try to get them to fix it, their classic response is "we'll send some one out" or "a guy should already be out there to fix the problem." Well, good. Fire him...he does nothing. The channel(s) are stilllll frozen. The internet makes you bash your head on the keyboard. I think my wife and I played monopoly in the time it took to load my email. Marcus Pointe forces you to use COM ONE for $90 a month. Good deal if you like being ripped off with costly,bad service.

BASICALLY BE AWARE OF: Inconsistent documents (file everything they give you...its never the same!) , Overly priced apartments with shoddy craftsmenship, poor managment, long commutes( if you work at a car dealership, than you're in good shape), and absolutely terrible internet and cable.

Other than that, its a great place to live.

I'm kidding. Live anywhere but here.
