I don't agree with the pricing report. Rents are NOT going down in price! They are getting outrageously expensive. Coming in new, the 1- BR's are up to $850/month now! If I renewed my lease at this point, without upgrades, it would be $708.
This is a nice, quiet community. However, I agree with the posters that say the cost is on the tenant for normal upgrades of appliances, carpet, etc. The complex cuts corners whenever and where ever they can. This is supposed to be a gated community, but the gate is often broken for long periods of time.
The lighting in my apartment is almost non-existent. It is very dark even with all the shades pulled up.
The staff is not very friendly and act a bit put-out whenever we go to the office to ask them questions. Though they dress professionally, they seem to act like they're better than their residents. I suppose this is the trend, since many complexes are going condo, rents are going up and service is going down. They really don't care if they keep us, because as soon as we leave, they can ask more for rent. I wonder if the people in the office get some kind of commission.
As far as the "white trash" comments, I disagree. You have to work to live in a place that is this expensive. Most people keep to themselves. Also, it is true that the laundry room is disgustingly DIRTY and many of the machines are constantly out of order. I have contacted the office and told them that I lost money in the machines and they never bothered to put signs on them for the other residents. The same is true for the car washing machines. The exercise room was vandalized so often that the office decided to charge us another $10 for a key to the room with the promise of upgrades. I have since lost that key and refuse to pay for another one, so, being one of the few people that ever did use that room, I'm at a loss. I resent the fact that they charge us extra to use a facility they say is available to us. We are lucky to have a washer/dryer hook-up in our apartments, which I finally decided to invest in due to the unsafe feeling of being in the laundry room. I once saw an older man in there making out with what appeared to be a teenage girl. After that, I always pulled up all the blinds as soon as I got in there.
Also, the office staff, for some reason, makes a lot of mistakes as to how much your rent actually is here. I've been given many notifications, that were flat out wrong, stating that I owed them $1.01 or something ridiculous like that and that it needed to be attended to immediately. When I told them that the rent was actually a dollar less than they stated, they wanted ME to bring THEM a copy of my lease!!! This sort of problem continued for three months in a row. In fact, one month, they actually lost my payment. The final negative point I have to say about this place is that you have to give a sixty day notice to vacate. This is unreasonable as most of us know you can't hold an apartment for that long. It leaves us between a rock and a hard place.
